Why Bozo Isn't Losing Polling Points for Being Insane-scary.

I think "The Daily Show" accidentally figured out what is really going on.  However.  I grade hard.  And I love that about myself.

I don't find bozo funny, charming, or at all entertaining.  I have actually had root canal.  And I would put suffering more than five straight minutes of him on a par with root canal.  At least closer to that than five minutes of any true "reality"  TV show.  Which I despise with a passion few can understand, unless they also despise "reality"  TV with a similar passion.  And I mean, where it really isn't a real competition, as in cooking, or singing, or a variety act competition.  And the only one of them I can at all stand is, "The Voice."  And I am far from a loyal viewer.  I am fickle.  Anyway.

My default is you do you boo.  But not when it comes to voting for bozo.  Be amused by him, if that is your low tastes.  But voting for him is a crime against many of your fellow Americans.  And yeah.  That is the point in voting for him.  In all seriousness.

Trying to Cut Down.

 What is it?  Three weeks to the election?  I am trying to cut down on posting on my FB wall about whatever latest racist, hateful, dangerous, and or flat-out insane shit bozo says or does.  It's pointless.  I am even getting tired of thinking about why these maga lovers and sympathizers can emotionally connect with such a racist, hateful, dangerous, and or flat-out insane shit of a failed person.  It's obvious that tens of millions of Americans do.  Deal.

I am expecting bad, if not the worst.  I said it the other day, shit so bad we haven't see the likes of it since the Civil War.

But I am convinced, it's racism.  More than anything else.  It's the racism, be that of the anxiety over the loss of demographic dominance issue, or the ease with with particularly white Americans of the right wing-ish flavor, resort to racist scapegoating, instead of concluding:

Let's actually overthrow the actual ruling class, actually.

This is where we are.  And I am not in the mood to type, but I will say.  American Federalism has failed.  State Sovereignty, American style is killing America.  We need more than some reform.  We need to reinvent the government.  And with all the insane Republicans out there with outdated, and or insane ideas?  We really can't have a constitutional convention.

So we are right back to needing what I have been saying for decades, is necessary.  The GOP needs to be dismantled via RICO and other laws.

Our current system is unsustainable.  And fascism seems to be the plan, of the GOP be it  maga, or the usual suspects, take over again.

I Am Not Gonna Call Her An Anti Semite, But I Will, Tucker Carlson.

 For his platforming of that fake, meaning uncredentialled historian, who has a long history of being some kind of Nazi-worshiping Holocaust denier, minimizer, apologist.  Not only that, but Carlson lavished such praise on this Nazi lover it's way past the often dishonest, just allowing alternative views to be heard, bullshit.  There was approval.  Oh.  And JD Vance isn't distancing himself from Carlson, and will go forward with some public engagement with the Nazi lover, lover.

What does the Owl have to do with this?  Nothing.  She hasn't commented on it yet.  I am not going to do an inventory.  But she really doesn't to my mind, pay all that much attention to Republican white supremacist bullshit.  Meaning, she doesn't call that shit out in a quick and predictable, disdainful way. At a minimum, not enough to meet my decent people standards.   Just saying.

But hey.  She might catch up with the rest of the politically aware blogospehere, and comment on this.  But I am not holding my breath.

Oh.  One more thing.  Unlike Vance, I do believe in guilt by association.  After all.  You can't really know what is someone's deeply held beliefs.  All we get to judge people by is what they say, what they do, and who they choose to associate with.   And all three do not always line up.  Sometimes they do.  Like with Carlson and Vance.  And Vance did not kick Carlson to the curb.  I judge him for that, and harshly.

I Am Not Going To Call The Owl a Racist,

 But personally, I suspect a lot of the criticism of VP Harris to be racist.  Particularly, when it's about trivial shit.  Particularly, when also about her cognitive ability, fitness for office.  All that shit.

The Owl.  Who's functioning I find to be extremely eccentric as a default, and flat out bewildering, time and again?  She has chosen to jump on the bandwagon of people giving Harris shit about some likely mostly ad lib remarks about women's college basketball.

Now to be fair.  I do not consider VP Harris to be at her best ad libbing.  But the racist assholes accusing her of word salad or worse are just shit talking her for their own amusement or what not.  VP Harris seems to just come across as a regular person, thinking out loud, when she talks off script.

Thinking out loud is not the same a working a script, people!

She is an experienced lawyer.  And she was a killer in the senate hearing rooms.  When she is all prepped she is a force to be reckoned with.  But in ordinary discourse?  She comes across like ordinary people.  Bright ordinary people, yea.  But she does not seem to have the rare gift of blarney.

She doesn't seem to have that ability that Obama and Bill Clinton had, with just talking and communicating very well to people off the cuff.   Most people don't. But hey.  I have an earned degree in Theatre.  I used to do improv exercises.  Most people never have.  Oh.  And the kind of legal and professional career I had, threw me into situations where I had to adapt and improvise.  Such as when I was a lobbyist. Some days I got to stick to my script.  Some days, I literally did speed lobbying. Which is  having a prepare elevator pitch, but being prepped for any of a number of questions about the bill at issue.  Or other stuff the legislators could ask.  

Oh.  But none of that is the real point.  That is.  VP Harris' sport is tennis, not basketball.  You fucking haters!

So Queen Bey released some Country songs from her new, unreleased album.

Rhiannon Giddens is featured on one of the tracks, playing some banjo.  I discovered her more than a year ago.  And now, some white supremacists are complaining that Blacks are taking Country from them.

Well, that really ain't true.  It might be an overstatement of fact to say they stole if from us, first.  But just like most "American" music. If it were not ours, Black folks' music, singularly, first, it was built on stuff that was first, ours.

I am tagging John McWhorter, because he is the Black man so stupid he runs around saying "Western Culture" is the best.  But that Black man does not mean, far as I know, because it is greatly stolen from other, not white European folk.  And I am tagging the OWL because even if she hasn't mentioned this "story" yet on her blog.  If and when she does, she will either say something so ignorant about Black  folk I will want to lump her in with certain, unsavory and ignorant (regarding not white folk,)  white Americans.  Or she will do that odious thing, given the number of unsavory and ignorant (regarding not white folk,)  white Americans who comment on her blog.  She will post something about the white supremacist driven fake controversy, without real comment, and let the white supremacist trash spew any kind of anti Black white supremacist trash they like in the comments section, short of using the En word.  As if use of the En word is singularly the signifier one is white supremacist?

It's as Insane as Believing in The Lizard People.

Believing that there actually is a thing called western culture, never mind believing it is superior.

First, the quickies:

This is why as of today, I am saying belief in the superiority of western culture is as insane as believing in lizard people.  The evidence that so called western culture is Eastern, Middle Eastern, North African culture in origin, is incontrovertible.  Particularly if you are a middle aged or older adult who has spent your career in academia.  And have been surrounded by this evidence on a daily basis.  For years and decades.   And that leads to my point about how I hope to never be in a room with either Professors Loury or McWhorter.  Because both have made public allegiance to the mythical lie that so called western culture is superior to others.  As crazy as believing in lizard people!

Granted, just because of where I live, I am more likely to run into McWhorter.  But I should avoid talking to him because I think that anyone, never mind a Black, who believes western culture is superior to others is too fucking stupid a person for me to waste a minute talking too.  And in my free time I have actually war gamed it out.  Basically, but for perhaps some relatively obscure facts about the Muslim Caliphate in Iberia?  I would not tell any professor any thing they have not already been exposed to.  So why should I waste my time if given the chance to waste my time thusly?

It's like the experts say.  It is a waste of time to try to educate someone who has given into some conspiracy theory.  That is why I am making the link to lizard people believers.  It's the same kind of  emotionally stubborn stupidity, but for a different untrue belief.

I am less than obsessed but curious about Blacks who to my mind have an ugly and obvious case of  colonial victim Stockholm syndrome;  Over identifying with the so called western colonial oppressor's  so called culture. Granted.  The pressure is hard.  Assimilate!  Fit in!  Be more like a white TV family! But this is the 21st Century.  And we do have the internet.  There a many videos and essays on line explaining human civilization and history.  There really is no excuse not to get the basics about how so called civilization did not spring out of western Europe.  It was brought there!

But I would like a better term than colonial victim Stockholm syndrome.

Did not find any candidates.  So until I or anyone else comes up with better?  Colonial victim Stockholm syndrome.   Oh.  But I am a Star Trek fan.  And there is the evil species that assimilates others, and makes them into drones.  Yeah.  Drone works.  But I doubt it will go viral. But I have tried before.  I have some friends with bigger platforms  and audiences.  And I can always comment  on big media sites.

Old White Lady Has an Emotional Breakdown. If She Acted Like This On A Subway

would anyone have a right to restrain her?  I don't think so.  But the old white lady in question though the dead guy who was strangled to death by the Subway Strangler deserved intervention.

I am sure the old white lady would argue that her shit fit somehow was not really that ugly, and needing intervention.  And beside fucking up horribly on the law?  That is what is totally fucking wrong with her and anyone else defending the subway strangler.  Who the fuck is actually trained, and experienced, and certified enough to make the call between not so dangerous, and actually dangerous people having shit fits?  And let us be plain.  Cops are not well enough trained!

There has been this much needed debate following the George Floyd murder, about the blatantly insufficient training of  cops regarding people in emotional or otherwise mental distress.

I am a little better experienced but not trained, because I did family court for three years in Philly as a lawyer.  I am most sure about what I do not know, however, as opposed to being sure I can tell who is going to go harmful violent, instead of just obnoxiously loud and demanding attention crazy, verbally violent.

Oh.  Where she fucked up,  like One L  badly fucked up?  In the comment section of her post on this shit?  She sort of seemingly deliberately missed the obvious fact that wrapping your arm around someone's neck to subdue them is precisely the kind of risk of killing another activity that the manslaughter laws criminalize. Intent to kill is not an element. It is engaging in conduct where the risk of killing another is so great that as a society we say, collectively.  Don't do that shit.

Before I end this.  And as a lawyer I find it disturbingly humorous to read or hear non lawyer talk law.  I did go through a lot of her homicide loving fan boi's  and occasional girl's posts.  A lot of them seem to think this is a hard case for the prosecution.  Not really.  And a lot think that self defense defense of others is going to be the think that winds the day for the strangler. 
   

The crime is (let me get the correct language)

Under our law, a person is guilty of Manslaughter in the Second Degree when that person recklessly causes the death of another person. 

The following term used in that definition has a special meaning:

1 A person acts RECKLESSLY with respect to a death when that person 

engages in conduct which creates or contributes to a substantial and unjustifiable risk that another person's death will occur, 

and when he or she is aware of and consciously disregards that risk, 

and when that risk is of such nature and degree that disregard of it constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of conduct that a reasonable person would observe in the situation.

And yes self defense is an affirmative defense.  That means the prosecution has to prove it wasn't.   I am not going to say that is going to be a slam dunk.  But.  I think the lack of evidence of a real imminent threat is going to be easy to show.

Oddly enough.  The Strangler would be better situated with that defense if he used a gun, not his arm. 

I can just imagine the potential witness for the prosecution describing how after the first minute or two that it is perfectly logical to believe the strangler knew he was killing the victim. So it shifts in theory to a matter of at what point did the self defense defense no longer apply and full responsibility for the unlawful taking of a life become the factual truth?  That is a winnable case for the prosecution.  

As soon as the victim stopped resisting?  And as soon as some on the subway car started saying he was killing the victim?  That is the point his conduct clearly became outlaw.  But far as I am concerned?  The Strangler's choice of strangulation as a means of subduing the victim was outlaw.  Out of several choices?  Kick him in the nuts?  Punch him in the face, or belly, or side of head?  He was a marine for crying out loud!  He was trained in various forms of physical violence. And he went with strangulation move?

They Are Not White Supremacists, Except When They Are?

I think the NYP needs a racial issues ombudsman.  I will be happy to take the job for a mere $140,000.00 a year.  Initial contract for two years.   Full payment guaranteed, even if fired for cause, and no waiver of litigation options, and corporate IP rights are limited to a license to use and reuse of work submitted under the contract.  I retain derivative works rights.  

Back to reality though.  When I first encountered the anti Black Lives Matter piece this morning, it was still highlighted on the "front page" on line.  But the link was dead and I had to hunt down the piece.  Granted, my cell phone browser might had to just adjust and update to today's leads.  Part of me hopes that someone there had to good sense to say . . .  that is a very bad look for Juneteenth weekend.  And they deliberately took it off the front page for optics.  However, my question still is:

how the fuck could those educated editors at NYP not get it, that the editorial that they wrote, was blatantly hostile to Black and brown folk?

They clearly need a racial issues ombudsman.  It's not really  giving into  "woke culture" to hire someone to keep the paper from losing respect and readers, by policing it from blatantly obvious, white supremacist bullshit. You would have to be an extremely committed white supremacist to believe it is!

So I Googled: "Heather MacDonald is White Trash,"

 As not a day goes by with out me thinking about white supremacists.  And she is well known at least in Faux Academic Republican white supremacist circles as the (dare I say it?)  Great White Hope  (or more accurately, hype.)  Her area of  (throws up a little in my mouth to say) 'expertise' is how black people are inferior to white people.  That is how I read her.  But she cranks and cranks on how there is a war on cops, and systemic racism is according to her a myth, and how BLM  and just about any pro Black social thing the majority of Blacks like is wrong. Ya know.  Shit like that.

Glenn Loury keeps hosting her and her white supremacist bullshit on his channels.  If I had the chance to interrogate him I would like to ask him:  "Professor.  If a student in one of your classes  turned in a paper where the majority of citations were either themselves weak scholarship, or being taken out of context, if not both?  Would you not flunk them?"

Anyway.  On to the return from my google query.  I ended up narrowing my search to news, as I wanted something recent, and found the following re the current season's production of  Zeffirelli's Turandot  by The Met Opera.  Which I saw this season, actually.  

Heather Disrespects Asians Too.

So I get to remark about this, sort of recent incident of Heather's letting her white supremacist freak flag fly, having attended the production in question.  Firstly, her white supremacist grounded statement:

"No sane person would think that Asians are threatened by its portrayal of the ministers or by any of the other characters."

Before I go into Priest of Theatre mode, let me say that is such a weak argument that any decent editor would say to her, after her submitting this shit (never mind the white supremacist bullshit,)  to either fuck off, or delete that bullshit.  Using what is routinely called the "No true Scotsman" fallacy as proof of one's argument is something good writers avoid, and better editors catch and 'edit.' That is according to rules we all were taught in high school,  never mind college.  Never mind law school  (and she is an embarrassment to the profession, according to me at least.) 

Anyway . . .

First things first.  I have my BA  in Theatre. Never worked at the Met.  Worked next door  for several gigs for City Opera.  I am the kind of person who goes to the opera.  That was my first "Turandot."  

Puccini's music is thrilling.  That opera has one of the most famous and performed arias for a Tenor;  "Nessun Dorma."   It is a virtuoso song, and the Tenor so nailed it  that tears are coming to my eyes  just remembering it.  It is hard to describe the feeling that is unique to a packed Met Opera crowd enthralled in a moment like that.  But the production as a production?

The story itself is more than a little fucked up.  My way of saying it, is that a good dramatic opera has to have some number of the following:  sex, lies, betrayal, evil, murder, if not rape.  But the title character is so blood thirsty that I can understand some Asians being uncomfortable with that part alone, never mind Ping, Pang, and Pong.  If you know about the now considered toxic portrayal of an Asian by Mickey Rooney in "Breakfast at Tiffany's," imagine three of them?

So no Heather.  Sane rational people who are not actually white supremacists have every reason to cringe at that shit. Never mind Asians.  Aren't we living in a time of increased hate crimes against Asians?  Her lack of sensitivity to anything other than her own POV, and what offends her and people who look and feel as she does?  There is a name for that.  White supremacy.

I try to not use the B word against individual women, but I am so tired of this bitch.  And all the other  white supremacist Karens out there.

Meta point here.  How to deal with the racist representations in great works of performing art is something ballet and opera companies are dealing with, now. Doing the evil sort of shit that Mac Donald does, in her  . . .  for lack of a better way of saying it . . .  shitty digital fart?  Really isn't the civilized way to go.  

Re "Turandot?"  Some companies are editing out the clownish parts  (I am not doing a full net search on how many companies, and how fully.)  But re ballet? I did see NYCB's  Nutcracker  just before Omicron stopped performances.  They have reformed the ethnic dances in Act II.  Way to go guys!  You don't have to rewrite the whole show, by the way.  But we Met fans know.  The Met Opera is phasing out the Zeffirelli productions.  Yes, the sets and costumes are visually spectacular.  But times do change, and so does tastes, and audiences.

To explain, I re watched some of John McWhorter's latest  . . . adjectives are lacking to describe it, near total misunderstanding of CRT, as published in his latest vid with Loury.  I had just enough wine tonight to think I should give him some instruction on his Substack space.  But only subscribers can comment,  there. Hence, my title, here.

Hope I don't need to tweak it.  But for the record, the blogger I refer to is Ann Althouse.  Even if she is not a Republican.  She really needs to follow my rule for white Republicans commenting on any issue having to do with black and brown folk, as such.  Just stifle it!  (Archie Bunker quote deliberately employed for emphasis and irony.)  Here goes.

So much to pack into one post. Firstly, some teacher got fired for exposing some white childr'n to this poem. White supremacists once again proving that CRT and the other anti white supremacists are clearly on to something.

Thirdly? I am running out of steam. I wanted to crank on these two black Ivy League professors, one conservative one a Democrat, who demonize CRT. And I re watched some of a dialogue vid they did (the black guys at Bloggingheads.TV.) My rant in summation.

I will tell you the open secret about CRT. They might have invented some new terminology, but none of their/our (I am a member of that tribe) ideas are new (even if you are not lumping all the anti white supremacists under one column.) I am Cape Verdean. Arguably some of my mainland West African ancestors were enslaved by the Portuguese even before Cristóbal Colón got lost and ended up in the Caribbean. We don't have a family oral history. But I am pretty sure the original stolen ones, finding themselves stolen and moved by force to the Cape Verde Islands had thoughts like:

"Who the fuck are these white devils? Why do they think they are better than us, and have a right to force us to work for them for free? We need to end all that shit!"

Yup. CRT was invented in the mid 15th Century, if not earlier. And that is at core what CRT and all the anti racist splinter movements are about. Ending all that shit.

With all the piglet squealing about  diversity training and CRT?  Seems to me it is the same old shit.  Netflix's new short docu series about The 14th Amendment hammers home the point.  I am in the middle  of Episode 3.  "Wait."  It covers the 20th century civil rights movement.  And it shows that merely telling black and brown folk to wait for white folk to decide they are ready to give up privilege, is pretty much racism, even if a passive aggressive form.

And now for the current racist movement; resisting deconstruction of the remnants of white privilege. White racists really hate the argument, that if you  resist deconstruction of the remnants of white privilege, you yourself are a racist.  Because they see and understand the truth of it.  And they don't want to admit they are racists because that would make them bad people.  And it is easier to tell lies and gaslight their own selves than give up their white privilege. 

I am not going to point fingers at any particular blogger, but  if you give cover to racists who are obviously about the business of preserving their white privilege to ignore that shit, and not have to deal with black and brown people's genuine grievances? You might honestly think you are not a racist.  So I ask you, if only rhetorically.  What do you think is the right word for someone who who is a willing and knowing ally of flat out racists?

And as opposed to Professor Althouse, it's bony.  Trust me.  I know.  I have seen it up close and personal, one time at one of the news stands in Grand Central Terminal.  She must have just got off the Acela.  I was just getting out of the subway, I think, and there she was;  Ann Coulter.  I bent down to pick up a newspaper and there it was.  In my face.  Her bony ass.

But that is not the point of this post.  Her  bizarre almost admission of blatant racism is.

I just mostly read  (ok.  Not every bloody word of it,) her new piece where she makes the case that:

Firstly, I long for the day it is impossible for any republican to get elected anywhere.  So I don't get her complaint.  Naturally.  But she's being about as obvious as Pat Buchanan with the racism, there. 

Now yesterday I took Ann Althouse to task for being a champion of the cause of oppressed white folk.  Again, what the fuck?  I repeat.  What the fuck?  Let me first say what I think they both have in common, then I will point out the minor difference.  Both I am sure would never say out loud in pubic they are racists.  Both would deny that.  But the difference is, I am sure that not too deep down inside, Coulter knows she's a racist, doesn't give a fuck, but for that fact there are rules that must be followed.  And yes, I am damn sure she pines for the day a proper white woman could call blacks  niggers  and Hispanics  spics or what ever, and not have to worry about offending (anyone that matters.)

Althouse is in a different category.  She really doesn't get it, how tone deaf and color blind, and all and all fucking clueless she is about such matters.  And by such matters I mean anything having to do with invidious discrimination against oppressed racial and ethnic minorities in America.  Again.  What the fuck.  If one's sensibility gets triggers by bigotry and bias against white people in the USA, one has their head up their ass.  That day might come.  That day will come, perhaps by the end of this century, when them  scary  (to Ann Coulter) Mexicans take over, not only in numbers  but controlling society, to a great if not most part.  But that day is not quite here yet.

Oddly enough Althouse teaches Constitutional Law.  I shudder to think about how she teaches  14th Amendment, Equal Protection, and Civil Rights, anti discrimination cases and law. 

I guess I am done here.  I just found it odd that Coulter went that far.  With out the target being P. Obama  himself, that is.  Let's check.  According to the 2010 Census, the American Hispanic population is  31.8 million.  And she went and peed in all their Cornflakes.  Nice going, you bony assed bigot.

Re the other bit?  Now  if this were a matter of ordinary scrutiny, ya.  But it's a constitutional claim, and the patently obvious motives of the legislators  can be show to be intending to discriminate against a racial/ethnic block.  The bullshit, does it pass the giggle test alleged purpose is not the end of it.  And it really should be quite easy to show that this is all about a deliberate plan to disenfranchise  black and brown votes.  That happen to swing Democratic, on account of SHIT JUST LIST THIS!

Just to hammer home the point about how stupid it was for anyone to freak out over what that ex NPR fundraiser said about tea baggers? Even if Louis CK is right in his argument, there are those professional whiners in the right wing who can get upset about the petty nonsense. Call a right wing racist a racist, and they (some of them) will squeal like a piglet. No, piglets. Being called a racist IS FUCKING NOTHING. Dealing with being on the wrong end of racism? Now that is something worth complaining about.
