Re that violence loving, gun toting, helicopter hunting approving sno billy grifter's (my opinion) law suit,

And calls for the "actual malice" standard to be revised in defamation actions?   Talk about people setting themselves up for being hoisted on their own petards?  And I mean the right wing lunatics who want that?

I do not want that, let me say up front.  But can you imagine any well known conservative media provider lasting in business for more than five years if the standard gets lowered for proving defamation of a public official or figure?   FNC  will get buried.  The even more lunatic copycats will be wiped off the map.  No insurance company will cover that exposure.  And if the law gets changed, following a Supreme Court rewrite and ruling?  Even given the one year statute of limitations  in many states, I have to predict a crippling onset of cases.   One of the reasons FNC gets away with so much over the top, flat out hateful shit is the  "actual malice" standard.  Granted, that Dominion lawsuit against them is a fairly dangerous threat to FNC.  And then there is Col. Vindman's.  So FNC has a good deal of exposure already.

I mean sure. I want them crushed.  But I think we are better off with the "actual malice" standard still in play.  Historically  judges disfavor defamation cases.  I should know.  I got my ass kicked pursuing a very good one.  Anyway

Last thoughts.  Palin is so associated with violent rhetoric that her case should have been dismissed, as it was, had been.  And her targeting map was so inflammatory that it is a reasonable interpretation that she was solicitating violence against her political party's opponents.  Far as I know, the reason for the overturning of the dismissal on appeal was even if technically within law.  It could have called harmless error, as on it's face  the pleading did not meet the necessary level for a prima facie case where "actual malice" cold have been proven, particularly how quickly the NYT  corrected the story.  And her claim of damages is fatuous.  She is the harpy who is famous for calling the "mainstream"  media  the "lamestream" media.  People who read and identify with the views of as she calls them the "lamestream" media tend to despise her already.

No real harm.  No provable damages.

Nota Bene:  I am still anticipating the result of the appeal of the Oberlin College case.  It is weird but not surprising that in some US states being called a racist is not considered actionable as defamation, but not all, as it should be.  But as we are now living in the anti anti racist times, and as I really don't know shit about the appellate courts in Ohio?  I can't really say there is hope for them to adopt that as the standard, going forward.  It is so hard to predict shit.  But at minimum, the damages were bullshit.  And in my understating of shit. The judge fucked up multiple times pre and during the trial. Most notably, fucked up in not dismissing  this shit.  That case was mostly some town vs gown treasure hunt. It might not be a rule of jurisprudence, but call shit as it looks!

Now That I think About The Debacle . . . I Say Make Mgmt Pay!!!

Stockholder's Derivative Suit.

A legal action in which a shareholder of a corporation sues in the name of the corporation to enforce or defend a legal right because the corporation itself refuses to sue.
A stockholder's derivative suit is a type of litigation brought by one or more shareholders to remedy or prevent a wrong to the corporation. In a derivative suit, the plaintiff shareholders do not sue on a Cause of Action belonging to themselves as individuals. Instead, they sue in a representative capacity on a cause of action that belongs to the corporation but that for some reason the corporation is unwilling to pursue. The real party in interest is the corporation, and the shareholders are suing on its behalf. Most often, the actions of the corporation's executives are at issue. For example, a shareholder could bring a derivative suit against an executive who allegedly used the corporation's assets for personal gain.

Sue The Pricks

Now what am I talking about here?

Reports are coming out saying shit like Roger Ailes was paying Mrs. Palin  nearly  $16.00  per word.  Word is coming out that FOX  did not out and out  sit on the option to renew the contract.  Instead, they gave her the chance to go away herself, refusing  the contract, on account they were only willing, now, to pay her a fraction of what she got under the previous terms.

In other words, the earlier contract was really  way off the mark of her value, and the decision to hire her in the first place was gross mismanagement.  And the shareholders  should try to hold someone accountable for that.

I hope someone does. Break them bastards.  Push Jolly Roger into retirement.  And take all his fucking money away,  too.  Yea that.  I love the idea of an impoverished  Roger Ailes  trying to get by on Social Security.

She Has Better Things To Do Than Make a Million $$ a Year, Doing Nothing, Dontcha Know . . . .

The Snow billy gets Fired By New York Media.

Oy vey! An always pathologically delusional Mrs. Palin, delusionally describes getting fired from Fox News, and describes her future plans in terms of the delsuion that (evil rotten mean) conservatism can "broaden it's audience." (Ya mean there are evil mean rotten people out there not already in the flock?)

And to just make it that much more delusional, the delusional idea she wants  other (evil rotten mean) conservatives to preach is . . . . wait for it . . . "American exceptionalism."

Didn't she hear or read that other GOPer last week talking about purging the party of the crazies? But of course, part of being ignorant, is not knowing how ignorant one actually is. Actually.

Currently, Thoughts.

Romney: still as stiff and "elitist" as ever. God, out of the buffoons left in the GOP Primary he's the one I want my team to run against.

Santorum: It is (further) evidence of the dissolution and pathology and insanity of the GOP that that insane Catholic American Taliban is still in the race. Granted, Bachmann and Cain never should have rated as serious, for one fucking minute. But even so, likewise, Santorum. He should not have survived Iowa.

Gingrich: fat, ugly, stupid racist.

Ron Paul: Ron Paul who?

Mrs. Palin and the myth of the brokered convention. First the part about the BC generally. It's further evidence of the dissolution and pathology and insanity of the GOP that so many of the leaders and rank and file are freaked out that it is not locked up already. I say that because the way things usually go in the GOP is that shit gets put together in favor of the party elite chosen one so quickly, usually, that these usually corrupt bastards really don't know democracy when they see it in action. Granted, having the stooges still throwing shit at each other is good sport. I don't really know if it is really good for Dems. I mean, it just helps in opposition research expenses, but beyond that? One could argue that it toughens up the eventual nominee.

Now to Mrs. Palin. Sigh. I was talking to someone on FB earlier this week and I was saying I really did not think she was trying to run. Ultimately the down side for her and the biggest personal consideration for her should be . . . if she could not stand the heat before, it is going to be so much hotter now. I mean really. People want to rip the shit out of her. And not just Democrats and the Main Stream Liberal Media. Fucking republicans want to tar and feather her racist ass (not for being a racist, but on account of her other deficiencies.) But I read something about some guessing about the racist cunt from Alaska, a couple days ago, that I am going to call "The Anointing Scenario."

Short of that was that the writer though she was angling for savior status at a brokered convention. Hmm. Ok. Spin that upside down. That means she could actively be hoping to win the nomination with out having to work for it. But for taking a motorcycle and bus trip, and telling folk she's up for it.

Now that sounds like the lazy, stupid, crazy, sociopathic, racist cunt from Alaska.

I wish her no luck with that.

But there is a silver lining for me, if she actually becomes sorta relevant again. I can dust off my trashing Sarah Palin song, record it, and post to YouTube. I might finally go viral!

(All things expressed herein and on this blog generally are just my opinion. And by that I mean anything that could be considered defamatory is definitely just my opinion.)

Racism 2.0

I have sorta, lately, been trying to avoid posting way and obviously photo shopped pictures.  They are often unfair.  But since Mrs. Palin had the sickening audacity to call respected civil rights litigator and leader Derrick Bell a racist?   Let's just say the rules of engagement are now as follow:  throw every thing you got at the sow.  And I remind people who are not zoologists.  The proper term for a Momma Grizzly is Sow.

Anyway, I am, have been in brainstorming mode today.  And I have been sort of obsessed with this whole  "Racist Attack on P. Obama  Through a Racist Attack on Derrick Bell," thing for the past week.  And I got to analyzing the method of attack, and the thinking behind it.  Here goes.

What Palin has been doing?  What she did when she went so far down the ugly, crazy road in calling a noted civil rights litigator and leader a racist?

There is a distinct sentiment, or movement, that she represents. And as it just now came to me, she's the poster child for American Racism 2.0. It's not as violent as the 1.0. And they do not intend to use the law explicitly against non whites. But what they really stand for; what they really feel is the following.

They are sick and tired of having to give a shit about non whites. That's part of the anti PC movement. They feel excessively put upon and burdened to have to pretend to give a shit. They really don't want to pretend any more. Them who have only been pretending, so far. And they are legion. For now I am calling this idea Race Awareness Fatigue.

I'm Still Fuming. Because to Me it is Personal.

I whipped out the c word on Mrs. Palin for daring to call Derrick Bell a racist.

And I have been checking the Web seeing how this is playing out. So far, the best ridicule of this patently offensive racist attack has come from one of the team over at "Lawyers, Guns and Money."

"Obama made his students read Derrick Bell, the legal academy’s preeminent Critical Race Theorist . . .  in a course dealing with Racism and the Law!"   Here.

And I wish I could just brush this off as the redneck faction of the right wing having their last gasp as a force of any strength in America. But to me the truth is, we have to take this more seriously than that. Just as the more extreme wing nut conservatives are trying to dismantle the legacy of Wilson by attacking the UN when ever possible. And as well, how they attack the legacy of Roosevelt, by attacking Social Security. And they attack Johnson's legacy by going after Medicare. There is a large number of red necks in the GOP who even if they get it, that we can't roll the clock back to before there was this "evil" 14th Amendment, that many of these revanchists would be perfectly happy to see that happen. They hate feminism, and the change in society that caused. And they hate the idea of integration/desegregation, as things were so much easier "before them niggers got all uppity."

Now will you ever hear is said that plainly? Not unless you are lily white, and pass as one of them beyond how you look. We know that when rednecks feel safe they say all sorts of ignorant things. Like Palin last night, on Hannity. I mean really? Did she really think she could get away with out damage calling Derrick Bell a racist? But she likely knows shit about any civil rights leader/lawyers. But she had her chance to take a shot at that black guy in the White House through Bell. And she felt safe enough to let her total lack of racial understanding, sensitivity, and history of the civil rights movement show. And she is way the fuck too much not alone in being that ignorant, and that full of hate.

I'll stop there. For now.

Follow up re Tea Bagger Terrorist Crybabies.

Beyond my amusement, specifically, at Mrs. Palin's increasingly desperate and buffoonish attempts to be relevant again, it's interesting to note how hyper sensitive lots of the tea bagger terrorists are about being so described. Reminds me of the bullshit euphemism,"Enhanced Interrogation." So what do they want us to call the legislative tactic employed in the debt fight?

Enhanced Leveraged Negotiation by way of Threat of National if not Global Calamity.

But it's not economic terrorism. No not that. Calling it that hurts are feelings.

Mrs. Palin's Whine Fest. More Cult of White Right Wing Victim Hood Shit.

Firstly, remember kids. The proper term for a momma grizzly is Sow. But I am going to pull my punch and not call Mrs. Palin a stupid sow. But I will call her less intelligent than a randomly selected chipmunk. Let me get this straight.

P. Obama sent an assassination team against Bin Laden.

Lets the military send drones over the border into Pakistan all the damn time. And jumped on board with NATO, permitting US planes to bomb the snot out of Lybian Forces Loyal to Quadaffi.

And ignoring all that (and that's just the quick tell of it) Mrs. Palin argues that if the tea baggers were domestic terrorists, P. Obama would want to hang around wth them? Again. I repeat. She's less intelligent than a randomly selected chipmunk.

Personally I am going to use the phrase tea bagging terrorists as often as is practicable. I pull the following from the statutory definition of terrorism I posted yesterday (on my facebook page):

"(1) the term "international terrorism" means activities that - - - - -
(B) appear to be intended -

(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;

(ii) to influence the policy of a government by

intimidation or coercion."

And I know Palin's fighting rhetoric with rhetoric. But it's an idiotic tactic, to respond to allegedly insulting rhetoric with batshit stupid, crazy-pants rhetoric. Judged by an objective standard, at least.

Go here for the crazy shit.

Monday Quickies

Right wingers, The Fox Fux and others, are in serious denial about the Norge Killer. According to Expert Researcher on all things Right Wing Violent, Michelle Goldberg, in her performance today on Bloggingheads.TV, Der Norseman Killer is not a Christan Fundamentalist. But he definitely is a violent right wing cultural warrior. Allegedly in his manifesto he cites (if not copy pastes directly from) standard American right wing wing nut conservative writings.

Getting more specific, I read somewhere that Satan Spawn anti Islamic Bigot Pam Geller is upset that she's being linked to him. Shit, woman. You so impressed him he mentioned you in his rant. So deal.

Fox News Channel is not dead yet. Allegedly we have to wait for a conviction in the UK shit before anything can happen here under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Unless some shit shakes out of the trees here, we are in a holding pattern.

I am still on a tear about the Hostage Crisis. Interesting thing, I read today quoting a former CBO head. He says we ought to do away with the debt limit. Sounds good to me. Granted, we can't get the teabaggers in Congress to go for it, as they are not going to be willing to give up their extortion weapon. But it would be better for the nation, I am convinced, that it never be held hostage again like this.

Anything else for now? That awful movie about Palin has totally bombed at the box office. Expect it on DVD soon. If you dare watch it. My understanding is never mind the subject. It's such a bad piece of documentary film making it might end up famous, in the same way Ed Wood movies are famous. For how bad they are.

Anyway. Enough. Later, people.

So Much Wingnut Stupidity, So Little Time . . .

Firstly, Mrs. Palin, who is denying that the new documentary brought tears to her eyes, and made the Mr. very angry, as the one sequence of media/entertainment celebrities ragging on her adds to the "She's a joke," factor. Since she is denying it, I believe it must be true.

Next, to The Stepford Wife, Bachmann. First Chris Wallace (mindlessly) apologized to her for confronting her with her actual street creds (or lack thereof,) as a flake. Now someone in I think Romney's camp is apologizing for saying she has a little sex appeal. What's next with these delusionally oriented wing nuts? Is someone going to have to apologize for saying she has one head, and 10 fingers and 10 toes? Fuck an even-gelly duck!

Rush Limbaugh used the occasion of the Casey Anthony (mostly) acquittal as an excuse for a very mean cheap shot at liberals. As if liberals had anything to do with the shitty case the prosecution brought way too soon? As a tactical matter, it's a mistke, rushing to trial with a circumstantial (de facto weak) case in a high profile case. The stuipid bastids should have known they were going to be fighting against high level lawyers, with high levels of resources. I hope not to say much more about that case here, but there's an ugly truth about criminal trials. Usually the balance of resources is with the state. When the state gets matched in resources, they better not merely bring their A game but they need to bring their A+++ game, or risk getting spanked. I will stop there on that matter, but to say it ain't got nothing to do with politics. Anyone who thinks that is fucking stupid.

And oh. I am noting, more, a trend among the wing nuts to attribute any action by any one left of center as doing the bidding of the Democratic Party (and the nuttier ones would say George Soros.) Bitches, listen up! If my team were that organized we would have wiped the floor with your punk bitch asses already and the GOP would cease to exist as a national party. Shit. You punk ass bitches usually do more damage to your own damn selves than we do to you. You don't have to stop saying that shit, but saying it doesn't make it true.

I could go further today, but I will stop here. I mean I could do some wing nut blogger alerts. But it does not please me enough to do so. I will rag on some wing nut bloggers on another day. Likely.

That's all for now.

Is It Just Me, Or Is This

An inexplicably bad picture?

It evokes that really bad night she had when she was looking at the wrong camera. So it's bad for the history of that gaffe. But otherwise, she's looking off in the distance with some sort of goofy if not sort of crazy look. (Click on it to see full size.)

And I pulled that from a website run by her camp.
Here.

WTF?

Well her neck looks good. And her smile and teeth look good. But the thing with the eyes is likely to creep some people out.

Oh. And I saw this somewhere else, so I can't claim to have thought it myself, but the remark was that Bachmann was a Stepford Wife.

If that gets stuck to her it could cost her a lot of the respect she's been getting as of late. And this picture definitely evokes that whole Stepford Wife image. She doesn't look very warm and fuzzy there. That might be the one thing visually that Palin has over her. No matter how much work she has had done on her face (that's why I have been calling her a cyborg) Palin is rocking that whole "Hot Mess," thing. Fact she doesn't do it for me does not change the fact that lots of folk are fans.

Oh. I checked her camp's main webpage. They are finally getting it together. They are using a smaller version of that pic for the masthead (for lack off a better word.) Oy vey!

Edit to Add:

The story about the flake remark is itself still news, even (and I suspect as intended) today that she's double triple officially announced her candidacy.

Here.

I urge all to follow the link and watch the vid clip. It seems her handler was more annoyed by the question than she was. But she really did not want to be dealing with the flake flap on her coming out day. That rather detracts from the looking serious part if one still has to defend that point. I loved the last part the reporter says about "Palin who?"

Oh. And one last thought. The teleprompter jokes again? I mean really! Come on. And remember what I said in a previous post about her ad libbing? Gaffs abound when people go off script. Teleprompters keep folk on script, dear. And that titanium spine bit? Minorly goofy. Not awful, but her penchant for visual show and tell might bite her in the ass, before long. That might endear her to her base, but it looks goofy. And people who still need to defend their seriousness can't well afford the goofy shit.

No More Weiner! Back to All Palin, All the Time!

No. But I do fall into that category of people, as mentioned by Katie Couric, who dislike Mrs. Palin but still find her interesting, cause we dislike her.

Speaking of that incident, Katie Couric's recent visit to Jay Leno, she mentioned (the comic appeal of) a Trump Palin ticket. Leno's punchline to that juicy set up: "Hair Head vs. Airhead." I thought that was (deliciously) harsh, considering Leno let her debut her stand up routine on his program last year.

Yes you Palin Heads. Remember that your favorite Cyborg tried stand up before being a reality TV star, before being the zany guide on her own Magical Mystery Bus Tour.

(I thought she sucked. Actually. But I grade hard. I gave her a B+ for being able to read the cue cards. But an F for coming across like a joke telling cyborg. No sense of timing or working the room. Give it up sister. No wonder she moved on to fake reality TV.)

Oh and the other Palin news of the past news cycle? That perfectly blunt diss from Baroness Thatcher's people?

Got to love those Brits. "A Thatcher "ally" told the Guardian's Nicholas Watt: "Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts."

Go Here.

Yea for the Brits. They are so elite (well the upper crust ones) that they have no problem calling out Palin like that. Jolly good show!

Not Exactly Quickies. Weinergate, and Palin + Revere Apologists, and There's No Crying in Baseball.

Worst part of the Weinergate scandal at this point, beyond the fact his schumckyness has now made him a limp advocate for the party (yea, I went there,) is not that I feel 'played.' I gave him every benefit of the doubt and now there's no doubt. Paraphrasing what some Frenchman said about the Clinton Monica thing? All the blame and shame but with out having real sex? What was the point? Anyway, yes now we know more about yet another politician's silly pseudo, in this case, sex life. But that leads to the answer. The sight of Breitbart taking his victory lap was truly sickening. Mr. Weiner. I'm sad you lied. I'm mad you gave that career ratfucker even a pyrric victory.

And about his "Vindication?" As what? As a scumbag? I want to say I have never seen a scumbag so self-pleased for doing no more than being a scumbag since Larry Flint won his case at the Supreme Court. But that would be too much of an insult to Larry Flint.

Anyway, Weiner's got worries, still. The House Ethics investigation means this shit is not going to go away any time soon. And given timing, election season will be here again before you know it. And that leads to the other bit. I heard today on my local NPR station that NY is losing two congressional seats. And no one in Congress (so I heard) seems to be in Weiner's corner. So his current district could get lost, be eliminated, go poof like a puff of smoke. Well He can still run for Mayor. Horn Dog (real or virtual) status should not hurt. But it's the liar part that needs to be managed.

Moving on to the Palin + Revere apologists (and Ann Althouse is in the club house, drinking that Kool Aid as well,) Geeze Louise people! Saying Paul Revere warned the Brits is like saying Kahlid Sheik Mohammed became a cooperative informant . . . after he was water boarded.

Did any of these people think to read Revere's own account? Before we go there, let's cover the basics. His mission clearly was not to communicate with the British. His mission included the directive, avoid the British. Avoid capture. And aww shucks, he got captured. And the Brit officer pulled a gun on him and threatened to shoot him in the face.

What sort of fucked up mind can take that, said that way, or even in Revere's own words, and take away from that as a factoid that Revere "warned" the British? If he was able to stick to the plan and avoid contact with or capture by the British, his mission would have been a complete success. Fact he got captured and said anything at all is perversely celebrating the failure aspect of his mission. And that is very fucked up thinking. Oh. And need I say the account of what he said to the Brits in his own word, and the disturbed Christmas tree lights knotted-ball of confusion ejaculated by Skulls Palin, Cyborg Decoy Unit are worlds apart?

Oh. And she called the question, a day or more later, a gotcha question. Now I did see the vid from "Morning Joe" where they ridiculed her for her, as one panelist said, thinking/saying any question she did not handle well was her definition for what is a gotcha question. That's the tame joke. Reality is any question that makes her have to think on her feet, make that think at all, is for her, a gotcha question. She really is that weak a thinker, I am sure.

Last thoughts before I head for the exit. The meme that she has been treated unfairly, such as Ms. Althouse suggested, and that craptastic documentary allegedly whines and drones on and on about? I call bullshit.

Let me explain my metaphor. It's fairly common to refer to the grid and being on the grid. I take it further and a little geekier, as in the Tron movies they specifically talk about the Game Grid. And when I say Game Grid I mean that virtual space where politics, and entertainment and media over lap. And if one chooses to try to make a living on the Game Grid, they should know that it can and will get rough there time to time. No one has to like you on the Game Grid. And one way or another one is dealing with competitors, if not rivals, on that grid.

Remember that line from the movie, A League of Their Own, that says,"There's no crying in baseball?" Well there is not a hard and fast rule that says there's no crying on the Game Grid. But if you are one to cry over a little metaphoric body contact, you don't belong on the Grid.

Confession. I never was a full on jock kid. But I played street hockey. I joke and say it was an excuse for pubescent boys to hit each other with sticks. It was a little more than that. But I loved me some, giving some hits.

How Many People Will Fall For This Shit?

And I mean this documentary about Skulls Palin, Cyborg, Arctic Decoy Unit?

Story Here.

Not too many, I suppose. Even if (at the end of the article it is said) some people think of it as her, "Secret weapon." Since the movie, for now, is going to be in theatrical release, that limits the market.

"Ya means I get to watch political propaganda, and all I gots to do is give you money? That is so cool. Sign me up!"

And if what the pollsters say is true, most Americans likely to vote have already made their minds up about Mrs. Palin. So secret weapon? Hardly. That's my guess. Now to be fair, she has had a few accomplishments, that would seem big to the average American, but small to the ranks of leading politicians (and sorta middle of the pack for the pack of grade B GOP Nominee Wannabes.) But touting her short list of political accomplishments, the questions are begged;

Is that it? What else ya got to say about her?

Didn't she quit when the pressure got too hard on her?

What has she done in the past two years but cash in on her celebrity?

But enough about that. I want to talk documentaries. Now I had a very good professor in college for one of my Communications courses. How good? She was on the team that won an Oscar during that semester, for best (short feature) documentary, If You Love This Planet. So if at first I was hesitant to take her at her word when she said that a documentary director could be every bit as creative as a feature film director, once she came back from LA with tales of the thrill of winning the award (and the parties,) I totally trusted her word.

Thing is, call it propaganda (her movie was officially declared foreign propaganda -- the production co. was Canadian, and was sponsored by the Canadian film board,) or just call it a visual and audio essay. It's not meant to be news. And saying that nowadays in the age of infotainment doesn't have the same meaning it would have, in 1982. But still. Many people still don't get it that documentary doesn't mean "This Is All True!"

In film classes we learn about what the academics and even the crafts and guilds consider the first documentary: Nanook of the North. Short version of it is that the director of that first documentary took liberties with the truth and reality. Many liberties. And the die was cast for subsequent documentary filmmakers.

Now are all documentary filmmakers flim-flam artists? Are they all ideologues intent on getting a specific viewpoint across, no matter the actual truth? Not all, but many. Go over to Netflix. You will find dogs like "Loose Change," in the docu. category, just as you will find things produced by Ken Burns. It's not a qualitative label, documentary. And it is not a guarantee of honesty and candor. It basically means this film is not a dramatic or comedy film that was written and produced mostly for the purposes of entertainment, which follows the conventions of fictional movie making. And it does mean at the least, that it's an opinion essay, but one done on film, with audio, and sometimes some fun and fancy special effects.

Again, I don't think all that many people are going to leave the experience of that Palin docu. thinking, my mind is changed, I now view her in a favorable light. Some will. Some few I imagine. And among those who already like her? Might fire them up. You know them wing nuts love them some confirmation bias. They will plop down real money for a book that is nothing more then the same shit Sean Hannity says on air, for free, or some collection of Ann Coulter's essays, that they already have (and still could) read on the Internet for free.

Anyway, the story of the docu. got me thinking about that stuff.

Sarah Palin, Rolling Tacky

Here's all you need to know about Mrs. Palin's tacky display at the "Rolling Thunder," event.

She jumped the line. Instead of just pulling up behind the people who had been there for hours, she and her Palin Family party just jumped to the head of the line.

Check it, here.

Other than that, she (according to some other report I saw, maybe on Fox) asked some real biker chick, how they deal with wearing leather. And she wore heels.

I say as a joke I gave up on bar babes, and biker chix, years ago. But I never hung with biker babes that much (although there was the local bar run by bikers I used to go to.) Anyway, I know this much. A real biker chick would never sweat getting sweaty in her leathers. Nor would she wear heels, even if she was riding behind. So short of it is, it was yet another patently false, fake event and performance amateurishly delivered by the Snow billy Queen.

The moron fanboys loved it. (Don't take me for being gender specific there. Her female fans often act as bad as the males, and the males often act like some immature, middle aged geeks ogling some former supporting actress from one of the Star Trek series, at one of those Comiccons. Yeesh!)

Thank You Lord, for Making Me NOT Be a Republican.

An ex friend who who turned on me like a rabbit with rabies, once said to me words to the effect that one of the reasons I was a liberal was I did not want to be seen with the uncool kids.

Ya think?

Anyway this nontroversey, or should we call it a FauxNewsTraversey, concerning virtually unknown rapper Common is bringing out the totally unhip conservatives. Case in point, Mrs. Palin, in yet another of her moronic diatribes continues the wing nut meme about how this unknown, and actually quite tame rapper is some kinda gangsta rapper. That's just so close to being a flat out lie, that she and anyone repeating that line of bullshit should be considered and called a flat out liar. But beyond the morality, or lack of it, issue, is the unhipness factor.

Now I am quoting from the Huffpo article and I will do it as exactly as I can. Here's what the square lady said.

"I'm not anti-rap. In fact, like Bret Baier, I know the lyrics to 'Rapper's Delight,' too. But I am saying just common decency in the White House -- wouldn't we like to see a reflection of all that is wonderful and great, a shining city on a hill that the White House is supposed to be, with events inside of that house that reflect the patriotism and the decency and the influence of America."

She Might Not Be On Crack, But She Be Wack!

Firstly, Bret Baier as a barometer of hip? Whatssamatter? Was Howdy Doody all booked up? Next, the creepy-weird Ronald Reagany reference. (And wasn't the Reagan metaphor the whole nation, not the White House?) Honey, when you claim to be all for "free speech" but then tell people what they should be (or should not be) booking as their acts, you are being the worst kind of censor there is: a hypocrite. I've attacked Ann Althouse for that hypocritical shit. And I agree with her, maybe as much as one out of a hundred times. I'll not hold back on calling Mrs. Palin a hypocrite for such a patently obvious instance of pure hypocrisy. It's like when the person starts off saying,"With all due respect . . . ," and then they let loose with a stream, a litany, a shopping list of disrespectful statements. (Before I get back to the main topic, I will repeat in sum, what I said to Ann Althouse's husband when he took issue to my taking issue with his wife's hypocrisy on "free speech." I'm all for criticizing shit one doesn't like. But don't run around telling people they should or should not communicate in a certain way while claiming to be a defender of free speech; that's hypocrisy. Embrace your inner critic, and throw the free speech idiot-identity under the bus!)

Enough of that, though. What really drives my mentioning this batshit crazy stuff is the reference to "Rapper Delight." Wassamatter Mrs. Palin? Was Blondie's Rapture too disco-ish? Was Ice, Ice Baby, just too whitewashed even for you?

Sheee-it. I graduated high school in the Greater NYC area back in 1980. I remember dancing my young ass to Kurtis Blow and The Sugarhill Gang back in the original day. And to call that rap is technically not incorrect, but that is to rap what the earliest Ragtime is to Jazz. It's more the precursor than the real thing. In this day and age, mentioning Rapper's Delight as your street cred for being a rap fan is as square as saying you love Fats Waller, to prove to the the Acid Jazz kids that you are hip.

And that is where I am going here. And remember long time readers, and for you short timers, I'm the guy more likely to go to see an opera than a Hip Hop show, but shit, I know how square Mrs. Palin outed her self as, then. But with her we have the quintessentially unhip and clueless conservative. Culturally and musically she's as paleolithic as the Stone Age. Remember. This is the snow billy who made her real tastes show when caught on cam singing along to Gretchen Wilson performing Redneck Woman.

Now is the world of culture and music so stratified that one can't be a fan of real Hip Hop and redneck anthems? Perhaps not as a hard and fast rule, but Mrs. Palin proves how long a trip that is.

Now Mrs. Palin. Listen up. Despite the fact I got a top score on some Internet old school rap knowledge test, I am far from being really in the know for Hip Hop. My current usable data base sorta peters out in the mid to late 1990's. but I know "50 Cent," is still hot. Russel Simmons is still actively a force in the Biz. Despite having his fingers in every kind of business imaginable, I would not count Puff Daddy out. But Jay-Z is a living legend. And the old school (not ancient but merely old school) gangstas who have survived are now movie and TV stars. And I don't mean niche market. Ice-T's been on Law and Order for over 10 years, now, and Ice Cube's a one man Hollywood Franchise. And let us not forget Snoop Dog. Who in America doesn't know Snoop Dog?

And you, Mrs. Palin, when thinking about what song gives you street cred as a rap fan, go back to the pre MTV days and dig out Rapper's Delight?

You would have done better to mention Amy Poehler's (award winning) Palin Rap. I mean REALLY! You were there in the studio, on the stage for the national debut of that joint. And it was only written like three years or so ago. Not more than thirty. And it has way more edge than Rapper's Delight, even if still a clean rap. Shit. Even the unaired hard one was still clean enough for TV, never mind the one that aired.

But ya. I am not a liberal because I am scared of being seen with the un cool kids. I'm a cool kid to start. That's a small part of why I am a liberal.

This Non Story Ain't Dead Yet.

Cult of Trig, indeed. And for those of you not familiar with that phrase, I believe the editor at Wonkette used it, in some back and forth with an editor over at Mediaite. Such editor (I won't call him a journalist. None of them at Mediaite seem to meet that definition) seems to have crossed the line into advocacy. And that's ok. But it's not really anything close to journalism if you get too deep into the story yourself (never mind the fiction that there is this thing called gonzo journalism. Even Hunter S. Thompson shied away from that label, eventually. Hunter was just his own crazy-assed, fucked up self. Actually.)

Anyway, the latest update is that the folk at Wonkette have actually pulled down the rude and offensive post. And I think that's a shame. Sorta. Not that I am a fan of making fun of babies, even political babies. And I do get the point, that Palin exploits her family. Shit. I was calling the Palin family a reality TV show before the Mrs. got her own paid gig, or Bristol got on DWTS. But here are the reasons I think it's sorta a shame. I really dislike Palin. And I dislike Republicans. And I particularly dislike Palin supporters. And I particularly dislike bullshit. And even if I am sure that some of the complainers really are upset, I would bet that only a small percentage of those complaining about how this one special needs child was used as the vehicle for a tasteless joke against his mother (I did call it a swing anda miss, in my first post re the story) likely has any real track record advocating for special needs children, for real.

What's going on here for the most part, is a cult of personality, bullshit hissy fit. Palin has her loyal base. They tend to go all batshit for all sorts of irrational reasons. Is this incident more worthy? Eh. It was a rude shot. There is nothing new about people attacking Palin through her kids. Ask Dave Letterman. He was the last to get "The Full Treatment," far as I know.

There is a pattern here. And that is that GOPers are all into "Free Speech" but for the shit they don't like. (I am not a free speech advocate. I call bullshit on people who sing that song, or preach that gospel, how ever described.) So I say that's basically hypocritical. Speaking of hypocrites, I checked out the commentariat over at Althouse's blog. There were several of the right wing loons endorsing violence against the writer of the botched joke. I guess the irony was lost on those wing nuts, who really don't believe that the answer to bad speech is more speech, unless that speech is to incite violence.

Makes me wonder though. And remember, I think all that free speech ideology is a bunch of shit, but still I wonder. What really is the orthodox Free Speech Ideology Extremist response to the rude Trig Palin joke? Is condoning the tasteless joke as just another person's speech required? Or is it pointing out the rudeness, the lack of civility in a critical way, but leaving it at that, permissable under free speech orthodoxy and ideology? And what about hosting a blog full of violent comments against the rude jokester? What is the Free Speecher's Ideological Imperative there? Do you stand in solidarity with those shitheads crying out for baseball bat-driven remedies against those who tell bad, rude jokes about Trig Palin, or do you sensibly (since all that shit is public and triple backed up on multiple servers) delete the comments and expel the offenders?

Again, I don't buy that childish free speech nonsense. I'm all about the edit button. Or other edit function. Make that I am all about the editing process, not only in art, but in my personal life (but I should edit my own posts here better, but hey, sorta stream of sorta consciousness is my default setting for blogging.) Point is I have no ideological bar to deleting a shity comment, or deleting a shithead commenter, with out so much as a "By your leave." I don't pretend to be fair, and then re write the rules. I'll tell you up front, I hate what you said there, shut the fuck up. And that's how (human) nature intends it.

One last thing re this non story. Of all people, Greg Gutfeld got on the, "Horror, Horror," bandwagon. He allegedly went after the joke writer, but not in violent words, but instead attacked the writer's looks, and taste in beer. Accusing someone of being a PBR drinker?

I won't over do the mock mockery, like the one editor at Mediaite did. In parts of the East Village, PBR tallboy night is a favored special. Personally, I have stayed away from that shit since college days. It's as low end as it gets, and the gas? Mon dieu!

There I go, digressing again. Point in mentioning Gutfeld is that his batting average is so low for successful jokes that he doesn't even rate membership in the club. And just like a typical wing nut, his reaction to rudeness in others is to be frat boy rude himself. Keep up the . . . . work, Greg.

Giving Credit Where Due . . .

Jan Brewer Vetoes Presidential Birther Bill.

Honestly, I thought she would have been down with that racist birther shit. I was wrong. So Kudos to Jan Brewer for putting common sense before politically expedient racist sentiments.

(Now if only we can get her to stop hating on the Mexicans . . . .)

Edit to Add:

Hell must have frozen over. I agree with that evil pigeon Charles Krauthammer. Re Donald Trump he says,“the vulgarity of him is offensive.”

But first, let me explain the pigeon reference. Krathammer has this ugly, scavengerish look to him. Reminds me of those nasty looking things found in big cites that are often called flying rats. (Ok. I'm not being nice. I can live with that.)

Now on to the Donald. Now I do not think the Donald is deliberately trying to make the rest of the field look better by comparison. But ya know? A ding bat like Mrs. Palin, who very well might be the perfect vision of Redneck Royalty, looks a lot less vulgar next to him. Hell, that awful comb over even makes Palin's coif, which I call a modified mullet, look less vulgar by comparison. Now there would be no reason for him to be trying to do that, particularly. I'm just amused to see the contrast. No matter which of these dwarfs in the GOP roster gets the nomination, they are still going to be Dwarfs. I really don't think he is running. But if he does, I do hope he busts out in the primary and runs as an independent. I see that ending with nothing but good news for the Dems.

When Was The First Time I Vamped About The Cult of White (Right Wing) Victimhood?

I seem to remember using that phrase years ago, here, and on the message boards, too. Anyway, someone (in a piece over on Politico) has taken that idea and applied it to Mrs. Palin, and quoting some other commentator, concluded that she's Alaska's Al Sharpton.

I'm not going to go long about how fair or not the label is. At the least I get it, that the very same lost-in-their-resentments, revanchist, if not racist, right wing nuts who revile Sharpton are some if not most of those who now embrace the white & right cult of victim hood like a man at sea who can't swim clings to a life preserver.

Ya'll don't have to go any further than my mission statement at the top of the page, to know how I loathe anti intellectualism. I say the worst snobs are trashy snobs, be they ghetto trash, trailer trash, snow billies, goat fuckers, or some combination of the above. There is something seriously wrong with people who waste too much time being resentful of what others have, and what others have going on for them.

If I wanted to be kind, I would say something like, sorry for your feelings of inferiority. But I'm not in a kind mood. So I will instead say, do fucking something with your sad, miserable, waste of a life. That's how one gets real self esteem. Not by envy, spite, and petty meanness.

That's the way I learned it, not only at home, but in the elitist educational institutions where I earned my place, therein, and completed all work necessary to earn my degrees.*

Oh. When the idea for this post stared churning in my mind, I was thinking about using this rather long quote from the article. But that was before I finished reading it, and found a shorter, more elegant quote directly about Mrs. Palin, near the end:

“She seems to me to be extremely defensive and embittered.”

Ya. That's a tidy and truthful nugget.

*(Had to throw that part in. I'm no legacy. I'm no trust fund baby. Now I wish I had a trust fund, but I really don't resent those so lucky. But I would tax estates at no lower the the maximum income tax. Why should people accidentally born into the right family pay less taxes than someone working for a living, to bring home a 6 figure salary? But I digress.)
