Here is my nearly irrefutable case. Chris Rock has this routine, where he slams the kind of (Black, particularly?) man who brags about paying his child support. As Rock says, you don't deserve credit . . . for doing what ya supposed to do!

That describes Hicks to me.. You get sworn in. You promise to tell tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It's what ya supposed to do! But yeah. She gets bravery points with all those death threats, and shit. But still. The case why she is trash.

What came to me today was what I want to call, the first date red flag, test. Imagine she was on a first date with a guy. And the guy said, what he likes to do is grab women by the pussy and see if he can get away with it.

I don't think she would have let that date go much longer at that point. What woman would?

However. She stuck with bozo for four years after the Access Hollywood tape came out.

Republicans have been spending a lot of time and energy opposing this mythical beast they call "wokeness." Now as a practical matter, wokeness is really just their current term to describe liberal, progressive thoughts and values. Really, that is all it is. The insult, buzz word du jour. But really what is at the core of progressive thoughts and values? Why it is nothing more than Christian Values.

And by that I mean, all that be kind to strangers, and wayward sons, and don't even judge harshly hos because hos gotta eat too, shit.

Kindness. Compassion. Not oppressing people.

And this is what they waste their time opposing? The idea that they should not only leave others to live their lives in peace, but as The Carpenter would have said, help the needy? This is what they are opposing?

Firstly, this vid  is on the longer side. You need at least 1/2 hour to kill to get through it in one shot, but it is interesting. This guy, Jonathan Haidt, is very smart and has some interesting insight. Comes the big but . . .

But if he was at all trying to get me to understand, and therefore recognize the humanity in conservatives, he managed the opposite. Well, it's not like I haven't paid attention to the sanctity/degradation angle before. And in short, the things they sanctify (all their stupid bullshit,) and the things they degrade, pretty much convince me their world view is an abomination, and anti human.

Granted, apparently lot of Americans are down with that Old Testament -fueled, bigotry and meanness-enabling, hateful shit.

And that is what I despise about conservatism. Wait. Meanness disguised as religion, or sanctity, is nothing new. It's one of the things I most despise about our species.

Conservatism is a Defect in Reasoning.

I have said similar things before.  It's easy to say it's a mental disease, but that is not truly accurate.  It's not something you cure someone of.  Freedom from conservatism is more of a function of getting someone to abandon a series of irrational beliefs.  Much in the same way a rational emotive psychologist gets neurotic people to abandon their redundant, self destructive thoughts.

What got me on this thread of an idea?  Some article written by some joker who was seemingly writing on the divide between insider  (country club) Republicans, and outsider (redneck) conservatives.  He  obviously identifies with the rednecks.  No matter how much money he might make, and that he might never be caught dead either at a NASCAR race or in the bleachers  watching AAA Baseball.

Here's the article.  I will super summarize it.  Conservatives is all that is good and right about the Right Wing, and the GOP is all that is wrong with it. What a fucking idiot.  Hack.  Sub species of Partisan. 

When Republicans Play Dumb, Expect Race to be on The Table.

When I first heard the mini controversy surrounding the Mitt Romney slogan,"Obama's Not Working,"  I came down on the side of those who were saying, of course there's some sort of racist pandering going on there.  I mean, firstly  we are talking about a candidate who's not even officially  the nominee yet, launching a full on assault on the incumbent.  This was not just some even planned jab for a talking point.  There's banners and a website.  This is the planned out first wave attack.  So it's hard to believe that no one saw the "joke" lazy black man, not too cleverly hidden there.

In a bizzare, but not entirely unexpected move, that piece of shit, Greg Gutfield accused Mediaite writer Tommy Christopher of being the racist, for pointing out the racism in the slogan/campaign.  Here.

Pardon me for repeating myself, as I do not recall how recently I have remarked that that is part of the way they play it.  Or as Bill Maher recently said it, denying racism is the new racism.  And Gutfield's on board with that shit!

Anyway, I should not be surprised that Professor Dickface, over at his blog, is on that bandwagon too.  And here is the truly bizzare part.  Professor Dickface actually quotes someone making the denial argument, and then turns around and says  it  (the slogan) isn't about Obama's color but . . .  wait for it . . .  his ego!

Yes.  That's the obvious answer!  If you are smoking Meth, I guess.

Anyway, it's one thing to just deny seeing it.  But it takes a great and colossal ass to dig down and find an hidden meaning that even the people who came up with the shit neither thought, nor communicated.

But I guess one's POV is likely to be more than a little warped, if one is already a right wing hack who is dedicated to tearing down P. Obama.

That's no excuse.  It is, however, a description.

 And this time I will link it.  And before I let you go, it turns out I just took a little look at the comments.  Turns out the slogan is a plagarism.  It's a rewrite of Margaret Thatcher's "Labor Isn't Working."   So the real question is, was it put out there both knowingly race baiting and  knowingly stolen?  The way I posed the question show how I am leaning.  Not towards the either/or but to the all of the above, to start.

Let me get this straight.  P. Obama is a bully for criticizing  as social darwinism, the latest Ryan Budget, and for expressing his hope and desire that the SCOTUS comes down on his side of the Obama Care case.  But it is OK for you to say this shit?

And I was willing to do that, but I just saw this and had to express about it somewhere. So much for the vast left wing media conspiracy. I have been reading a lot and watching a lot of cons/wing nuts whining about journalistic ethics. Now is that ethical? Will we see or hear any cons/wing nuts calling out News Corp for that?

Of Metaphor, Rhetoric, and Delusional Disorders. And Crybabies.

Let's set the baselines.


Metaphor:

Rhetorical Fallacies
Rhetorical fallacies, or fallacies of argument, don’t allow for the open, two-way exchange of ideas upon which meaningful conversations depend. Instead, they distract the reader with various appeals instead of using sound reasoning. They can be divided into three categories:


1.Emotional fallacies unfairly appeal to the audience’s emotions.

2.Ethical fallacies unreasonably advance the writer’s own authority or character.

Keep in mind that rhetorical fallacies often overlap.


We tend to call rhetorical fallacies, "Rhetoric," for short, even if the proper academic meaning of rhetoric encompasses a greater swath of the persuasive arts.


Delusional Disorder has a technical definition, under the DSM IV:
Delusional disorder is an uncommon psychiatric condition in which patients present with circumscribed symptoms of non-bizarre delusions, but with the absence of prominent hallucinations and no thought disorder, mood disorder, or significant flattening effect.[1] For the diagnosis to be made, auditory and visual hallucinations cannot be prominent, though olfactory or tactile hallucinations related to the content of the delusion may be present.[2]

Suffice it to say, few people really have a clinical delusional disorder. But some people are so stubborn with their rhetoric, they seem to be truly mentally ill. One person's passionate conviction is another person's evidence of a profound need for very powerful anti psychotic drugs.

Now for the real discussion. Following the Tea Bagger Terrorist-caused artificial Debt Ceiling crisis, where such people used the small but effective leverage they had over the debt ceiling bill to advance their minority agenda over the whole of the Nation, a lot of metaphor and rhetoric was thrown their way. And that hurt some of their feelings. And I am not sorry about that. I have said it before. I'm surprised they even have feelings (rhetoric.) Maybe it's not really a matter of feelings per se, but one of subconscious shame (analytical supposition.) Or maybe they are just a bunch of whiny assholes (metaphor, intended insult.) Bunch of crybabies (metaphor, intended insult.)

But their response to the patently obvious metaphoric and rhetorical arguments levied against them, while not meeting the DSM IV's definition for Delusional Disorder, clearly, and from the common man's understanding of it, has been quite delusional, and particularly hypocritically rhetorical itself. Let's take inventory, shall we?

Bullshit wind bag Jonah Goldberg (metaphor, deliberate insult,) went on a tear regarding the anti teabagger terrorist rhetoric, on several lines of attack. First he delusionally (rhetoric,) equated calling teabaggers terrorists and such with the odious "gun sights" map that Palin got raked over the coals for (metaphor.) Jonah. You drooling, post lobotomy patient on crack (accurate description. No. I'm being rhetorical and insulting, and enjoying it immensely.) If you are so stupid you can not tell the difference between violent rhetoric and merely insulting rhetoric, you go to hell (ironically that's how he ends the column in question.) That's the case, generally. Specifically he brings up, several times, Rep. Giffords, who took a bullet round to the head, and indirectly equating her level of victim hood to tea baggers being rhetorically insulted? That's some of the sickest shit I have ever read that was not details of an actual violent crime, or some sick and twisted violent fantasy (true present opinion and belief.) What a crybaby (yes, rhetorical. But it has more than a grain of truth.)

I have likely gone so long here that I should stop now. But there are many other examples of this sort of insane hypocritical rhetoric coming from the teabagging terrorists and their enablers. Let them whine about "The New Civility." Let 'em. My thought earlier this morning -- I was specifically thinking of that over paid college drop out (accurate) Hannity. He's such a hypocrite (truth) that if he were forbidden from ever employing rhetoric on either his radio or TV show, they would consist of nothing more than reading AP or UPI wire stories. Because between his bullshit, his usual guests' bullshit, and his callers' bullshit, there's not much there but for rhetoric. And that my friends is the baseline of the right wing. (Special note here. "Bullshit," is not necessarily a rhetorical device. At least according to Professor Harry Frankfurt. See his long form essay,"On Bullshit.")

Now before anyone says,"Your team uses rhetoric too." I will admit. Yes. Everyone does. But discourse on that other side of the fence is at such a low level that there really is not much substance there. It's nearly all rhetoric, nearly all the time. And that is why anyone on the right who is bitching and moaning about the tea bagger terrorists being called terrorists? All I have to say to them is the following:

Could you be MORE hypocritical? (Sarcastic rhetoric, but not a rhetorical question, there.)

My follow up, as I watched a clip of some bullshit discussion on Fox from yesterday, where the hypocrite Fox host and the hypocrite wing nut radio host continued with the false equivalence. And oddly enough the wing nut radio head said Allen West was "accurate" with his personal attack on Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (way to prove being a hypocrite.) That execrable performance led me to formulating the following rule of thumb.

The two prongs of the "If Not Going Too Far, Per Se, at Least Worth Complaining About," rule are as follows. Either something should be (1) such a blatant, non sequitur of a cheap shot personal attack, or worse, or (2) some violent rhetoric that is so far outside the plebian lexicon that it could not pass for (qualitatively, comparably) a line in a high school cheer, in order to be considered complaint-worthy.

I am recognizing two important realities about the American Lexicon. All insults are not created equal. And even if violent rhetoric is the worst, by class, some of that stuff is so deeply entrenched in the lexicon, that to whine about it makes one a crybaby. For example, if a rival calls you a crybaby, that’s no foul. And whining about it is per se evidence of being an actual crybaby. If your election rival says they plan to whoop ya, that is not a foul. Whining about that is evidence of being a crybaby.

See how it works?

Pardon My Lack of Civility . . .

I'm still detoxing from the wacky world of web forums. Not that there really is any use in trying to converse with hard core republicans. Hell. There's not even much to gain from flaming them. But it was a pressure release for me. I mean, merely saying here that the GOP is evil might be true, but there's less fun in that then explaining why they are evil to one or more of them. Yes. I have whipped out the actual dictionary meaning, and even the famous Hannah Arendt,"Banality of evil," observation/quote. And still their lame defense is they personally haven't committed acts of mass murder or are not serial killers, so how can they be evil?

And that leads right into why it's of little to no practical use to debate with those delusional idiots. If someone is so messed up in the head that they will routinely and frequently substitute their desired meanings for words, instead of the real meaning of those words, it is pointless to try. The words might be English, but they are speaking a different language. It's one where every word means what they want it to mean, when they want it to mean what they want it to mean.

So why did I do it for so many years? It was only a small amount of fun to do so, but it sorta satisfied some darker need. I can't blame my pirate ancestors, but I do like giving hell, time to time. But as it is, the last board I was posting on has all but banned me. I am not stricken of the list. I just can't post in any of the contentious threads. I had been in the gulag -- my own little place to rant, that others could come into and get a taste of my hell giving. However management has pulled the plug on even that.

In the board's owner's mind, calling the GOP evil was hate speech. This is after I had the definition discussion with her twice in a month. Anyway. I should not miss it, but it was something of an outlet for venting. And venting into the void (with out even a seeming virtual audience,) is just not the same thing. And now I need to do something more constructive with that excess emotional energy. Hey. There's that rally I am going to (plan to) Saturday. Yea for that!
