Spring is Here!

I am not even getting started about the illegal war but to say:

War crime.

One of my favorite classes in law school was International Law. My grade suffered because it was entirely based on a paper.  And I was a day late getting it in.  Was docked a whole letter grade.  I had this bad habit in law school of picking very ambitious topics, and mine was environmental refugees.  So yeah. My interest in it is both old and deep. Considering that I previously took international based political science classes.  Old and deep.  Anyway.

On to domestic tragedies.

ICE at airports is not the issue as much as how ICE needs to be shuttered.  The successor unit needs a very limited jurisdiction.  And if it takes 90 days to reevaluate under stricter qualifications, the former ICE agents who want to work in the new unit, and screen newbies?  Then so be it.  Remove the pathological and artificial quotas and we can easily live with 90 days of hiatus.

I will just now jump to ordinary politics.   This meme well represents my current mood.  The Democratic party clearly is better and governing, and has a truly moral moral foundation. Which is a large part in the being better at governing part.  But these days they seem not good, sorta bad at politicking.  Particularly when some of the leaders still insist that being more centrist, and or populist is the answer.  Fuck that.

Zohran Mamdani's success in getting elected Mayor of New York might not be the template for other areas and offices,  But he campaigned on progressive positions and got the rank and file in NY excited.  I know.  I was at that last big rally before the election.  It was a homecoming for Democrats who remember and never forgot what we are supposed to believe in, and do.

We believe in letting people be.  We believe in equal justice for all.  Not just the people who are most like us.  And as opposed to the ignorant shit republicans say about us.  Most of us do not believe in free stuff just for the joy of giving free stuff.  What we actually believe in is paying the debt owed to groups and individuals who were denied equal justice and rights.  And we also believe in helping those who need help.  Don't be judgmental when you could be helpful.

And what we do it try to enact policies and govern to achieve that.

Tax Day? Let's Call it Stop Your Pathetic Whining Day Instead!

I am just dead set on cutting against the grain today.  I am not following the heard.

Among the most tedious experiences  I have ever suffered in life is hearing  my fellow Americans bitch and moan about their tax rates.  It's every bit as tedious as listening to a top fashion model bitch about being too fat, or some millionaire about how he ain't rich enough.

Tiresome!

Why I Despise The GOP.

Who are today's GOP, today's Republican Party?

They are the people who don't trust economists on economic matters.
They don't trust scientists on science matters.
They don't trust doctors and patients, on health care issues.
They don't trust Public Safety Officers and Police Chiefs, on public safety issues.
They don't trust Public Health Professionals on public health matters.
They certainly don't trust artists on art.
Or educators on education.
And they don't even trust individual humans on matters of their own personal privacy, and intimacy.

Yup. That is the GOP. That is also why I hope to live to see the party in it's death throes. But they are not going to go out in a blaze of glory. They are going to go out like some babbling bible quoting meth addict. Causing disaster, disease, destruction and death, before they finally self destruct.

They Are Mean!

And the Jeopardy question is, why do I hate republicans, so much, Alex?

What Am I Thankful For?

I am thankful that all the women close to me in life are smart, compassionate, and brave.  That of course means they are all democrats, or at least lean that way.

Republican women tend to be stupid, evil, and cowards.  I am glad I have none of that in my life!

The GOP Must Be Destroyed. ASAP!

Watch It Here.

Thom Hartmann explains why the GOP is the enemy of the American Dream.  Its it's murderer.

Nothing new here,  for people who know their asses from their elbows, and either are older than about 45 years, or a decent student of the past 70 years of American History.

And what about those people who are over 45 and still vote GOP?  No excuse for that people.  It's like voting for yourself to get run over with a truck instead of having a nice meal followed by an evening at the movies.

I Fucking Hate Fucking Republican Hypocrites.

Romney and people like him are just plain despicable.

Remember this guy? The last big plan he had was a march for Poor People. They shot and killed him before he could.

Know about that other guy named Romney? No I am not going to say he wants to shoot poor people. But he ain't gonna march for you, care for you, treat you with the kind of respect a POTUS should. He says . ."That's Not His Job."

Now I am definitely NOT NOT trying to change any one's plan here, to vote for the guy who doesn't have any empathy for the poor. If that is who you are, that is who you are. But know this. You can't be both a supporter of MLK and Romney. Make your choice people, and stick with it.

MLK

Romney and people like him are just plain despicable.  Some wing nut is likely to see this.  And just not get it.  And that is why people like that need to at least shut the fuck up and not vote anymore, or leave the country.  Fucking sickening.

Back to Politics. What This Election is About.

America the ignorant. Thanks in great part to a mostly worse than useless news media (and pundits.) The meme of the week is that the presidential election is about character. Not entirely false, but that misses the bigger picture.

This election (like many before it) is about philosophy of government and governance, and economic theory, and particularly where the two overlap.

Jumping to the chase here, I will say Old Joe Biden got it right when he brushed off (the disturbingly insane, baseless) arguments of Romney and company that his experience in Private Equity is a good qualification to make him POTUS. What did Joe say? That is no more a qualification than being a plumber.

I gotta add to what Joe said. I would say the master plumber/contractor might be more qualified, though. At least the master plumber/contractor runs an actual business that competes in the delivery of actual services to an actual market. The Private Equity people are engaging in a cynical form of capitalism (which is inherently cynical to start,) that often is more about manipulation of resources for short term ROI, rather than the ordinary delivery of goods and services to a market. And like that guy said in the suppressed TED speech. Hiring people (creating jobs) is the last thing those bastids want to do.
