It's a Primary Debate. Not a Freaking Prom. Morons.

Sorta weirdest story of the week. But when dealing with wing nuts it's dealing with morons. Oftentimes.

And some of them were upset with the tough questions Chris Wallace was asking the wannabes, last night. Go Here.

Granted, when confronted about that on "Fox and Friends," he made the NFL analogy instead of my fave, there's no crying in baseball. But the message is the same. This is politics, and that a rough sport (even if not one with actual physical contact, in the USA at least.)

Now I linked to Mediate. And the "editor," Ms. Fran Martel (so I hear it, she's almost a home girl for me,) makes a very specious argument. But she is a true believer wing nut. Anyway, she argues that," Wallace’s assertiveness and frankness in his questioning helps undermine other media outlets’ criticism that Fox News merely acts as a “mouthpiece” for the Republican Party."

And that's some ripe, nasty bullshit. Firstly, intramural GOP politics is every bit as much a vicious blood sport as the GOP vs the Dems. Republicans eat their young, there aged, and any game that can be taken down and chewed on. Implying otherwise is a big fat lie. Therefore either covering or hosting a GOP Debate has to have some adversarial content. As much as the wannabes might want to run against P. Obama now, they have to shred each other to be declared GOP champ, earning the right to be the one to challenge the Democrat Incumbent.

Next, only a fool would think that there's no commercial value in hosting a more pugnacious debate than one that so full of softballs it's like Sean Hannity interviewing a favorite politician.

Next, never underestimate that Fox Mgmt. might be subtly behind someone already and the rest of the pack are just there for dramatic filler.

Lastly, Chris Wallace never seemed to me to be a wing nut. He knows who signs his paychecks, and all, but he's the rare true hunting hound over there in the Fox Kennel. I don't want to continue the metaphor, so I will just say he's one of the few real journalists with his own show, there. And that is the role he plays. He's Mr. Legitimate. Even if his frequent smirks belie the fact he's well amused by the bullshit game his networks got going, there.

So trotting out the "Not a mouthpiece" editorial comment is really bullshit, not because that is a lie, but again, that's Wallace's role there. And during a primary, he gets to play. Good for him! But that does not change the fact that Fox News is the cable TV equivalent of one of those old time biased local papers that routinely side with one party against the other. This is an ancient game, Fran. Don't pretend it is more than that.

Not Motivated. Too Hot. So Let's Go Very Quicky.

Mrs. Palin is teasing in more ways than one. She's still teasing her minions with tauntingly seductive-trying-seeming hints that she's thinking about running (don't you just hate teases?) But in that Newsweek article she strikes poses more befitting of a Hollywood Starlet than someone seriously thinking about the very serious job of running for office to become POTUS.

Shit on a cracker! You don't pose demure, and slyly flirty if you want to be taken seriously as a candidate for leader of the Free World. Fuck a duck!

Sticking with Mrs. Palin, I was about to give Tommy Christopher of Mediaite shit, for giving Martin Bashir shit, for "wrongly" allegedly accusing Mrs. Palin of calling P. Obama a Sugar Daddy. Then I went back and looked again at the post on Mrs. Palin's facebook page and remembered. I did not get past the third line of that shit. So I really can't really give Tommy Christopher much shit really, but to say the following. If one does what I did, and reads the head line and not much past that, that's the way that shit reads, mon ami. Just saying.

Not Much to Get Excited About, Post Easter . . .

I want to say, that's exciting. But it's not. Really. Anyway.

Post over at Mediaite. Cokie Roberts at the same point in time for the same statement gets the Bravery In Punditry, and the Saying The Obvious Awards. The double hit statement: that people call P. Obama Muslim 'cause they can't say they don't like him 'cause he's black. (My inversion; I'd say it this way. He's no the fuck where near white enough.)

Anyway, lemme run the vid and see if it's worth linking.

Ok. I ran the clip and she did not bring up the topic, in the panel discussion that is where the vid is from, but she made the 'dog whistle' argument. It's worth a look. Maybe. Cokie on Racist "Muslim" anti Obama Dog Whistle, on "This Week."

Now I actually went back and read the editorializing that accompanied the vid. And it wasn't that awful. I confess to having a seemingly inconsistent view of Mediaite. I hate it. And I go there daily. I go for the vid selections, mainly, not the commentary, which is usually as bad if not way the fuck worse than what ever perceived errors or alleged bias they seem to be trying to highlight. That's why I call the staffers there editors. They are not engaging in reporting. They just toss off what objectively seems to be nothing more than editorial comments. But I digress.

After reading that editorial commentary, I did something I rarely do. I went over to Newsbusters, because they are the net based source for the vid. Their spin? Now that was some messed up shit. Or it was typical GOP lies and bullshit and straw man red herring nonsense. Actually, both.

Instead of dealing with the actual issue in the vid, their editor went off on a discussion about how P. Obama's falling approval ratings were based on (perception of) his job performance. As if that has anything to do with people saying P. Obama is a Muslim? That is a perfect example of why I stay away from many GOP sites, and why it's a good thing I am in recovery from political message boards. There is no point in arguing with people that stupid, and or that dishonest.

Anyway. One last mention of the editors at Mediaite. There was yet another mention of the Non Story of last week: Triggate. This time, the editor, who went so bat shit over that nonsense last week, actually, was sounding the call to reason. Turns out some writer called Mrs. Palin herself a, "Special needs, case," and the Palinistas were still going batshit with the sturm and drung. The editor basically said enough is enough. He even went so far as to suggest that the hysteria could have been false.

Nice of you to finally see the bullshit for what it is/was, Tommy.

His reversal reminds me of one of my favorite George Carlin jokes. I am doing this from memory, so forgive me if I don't really get it 100% accurately.

"Ever notice how when someone ahead of you is driving too slow, they're a fucking asshole, but the guy who speeds past you is fucking nuts?"
