A Non White Spiderman. I Was Waiting for Some Racist-y Wing Nut to Complain. And Along Comes Glenn Fapping Beck.

Beck Wants a Traditional White Spiderman, Sorta.

I'm not comic book people. When my sixth grade classmates were still reading Spiderman, I had moved on to the NY Times. (Not bragging. That's when I started with the political junkie stuff. And the Watergate stuff was just heating up.) I would not be caught dead at a Comicon unless I was there to work, as paid staff, or there to promote some project in which I participated. So I only know about the whole 'Ultimate" series of Marvel because some comix people explained it to me, and mostly because I read some other article that explained it, yesterday.

But this recent flap just reminds me of the racist-y whining before Kenneth Brannaugh's "Thor" came out. Because one of the Norse Gods in Asgard was played by a negro man. Because some people get all spastic when their notions of race centric cultural norms are challenged. Hey. It's freaking Gods. Some are so powerful they can change forms. Why limit them to one shade of skin, but for some observers' racist brain damage?

Bringing us back to Non White Spidey. The Marvel "Ultimate" universe is a different than the classic context universe. So anything goes there. So it's not weird for Peter Parker to die, and some half Black, half Hispanic kid takes over the web shooters and the spandex-y suit. Anything goes , there. So when I see some (already exposed as a wing nut racist) idiot like Beck whining about the damage to "tradition," all I see is a racist jerk who goes batshit insane because his racist cultural biases were challenged.

And this is not a matter of such importance that it rises to National Mythology. We are not talking about rewriting the Tales of the Brother's Grimm, or anything like that. I't a freaking comic book, for crying out loud! Get some perspective, asshole.

Now I should note that Beck in the audio says he doesn't care if there's a half Black Spidey, bla bla yadda. If that's the case, why have the segment at all? But he comes across as insincere as the person who says, with contempt dripping in their voice, "With all due respect . . . ," and then goes on to say something contemptible. How his deranged brain links this up to Michelle Obama is evidence of some serious cognitive dysfunction, if you as me. Making anything as trivial as a barely if even 50 year old comic strip part of social/national "Tradition," is pretty messed up, with out the racist/bigotry multiplier factor.

Note for Mr. Beck. The entire "Ultimate," line of Marvel Comics is not new, and not part of some PC conspiracy. It's pure capitalism. Marvel made the decision to expand comix sales into new markets. So the anything goes in Ultimate Universe paradigm allows Marvel to potentially reach any niche market, and maximize sales and profits. Ya racist moron!

Oh. Getting back to "Thor" for a minute. The god played by the negro man was Valhalla's guard of the bridge, Heimdallr. He had to stay on post all the time. All day, all night. Did not get to go to the fancy parties. Did not even get some time off to take a Valkyrie on a Battlefield Date. So it's not like he had the most glamorous gig there. But he did have awesome powers!

Calling Bullshit on Beck. Calling More Bullshit on Bernie Goldberg

Turns out Glenn Beck is either way more delusional than we thought, or is an accomplished liar. Well, he could be both, actually, but anyway, his recent allegation about being attacked in NY City's Bryant Park is the nastiest, rankest bullshit.

Turns out some one merely accidentally spilled some wine, apologized for it, and helped Beck's wife clean it up, according to the most recent account.

Here.

But according to Beck he was targeted for harassment and all that crazy paranoid shit he said on the radio. Now as of late, I have been saying there's no excuse for being a republican. But this guy? Medication? Incarceration? Either way he needs a lot of remedial help. Or to be put somewhere where his toxic shit can be better contained.

And in other freak a zoid news, Bernie Goldberg has decided to go ballistic on Jon Stewart, over the (as they are calling it) 'Amos and Andy' voice he used making fun of Real Life Minstrel Act Herman Cain.

Bernie. Listen up. I have been given shit by GOPers for accusing the GOP of deliberately misusing the word racism to deliberately muddy the meaning and power of the word. And you, you incredible ass, do that deliberately and knowingly. Thanks for proving my point.

And I quote:

"I told Juan Williams who was sitting in for Bill, that conservatives should do what liberals have been doing for years – they should play fast and loose with the word “racist.” They should promiscuously call every liberal who criticizes Herman Cain – or any other conservative black man – a racist. Not because it’s true, but precisely because it’s a lie."

Here.

Bernie, Bernie, Bernie. Never minding the ignorance of your premise, that liberals are deliberately playing fast and loose with the word racist. Your practical admission in that piece that that is exactly what you are doing to Jon Stewart, and your call to other conservatives to do so as well, is just prime facie evidence of your depravity. That is evil. To do that deliberately. No matter how deeply you believe the other team is doing it. Shit, more so if you really believe the other team is doing it, that's more of a reason never to do it.

Did I say that is evil? Shit. Oh. And Bernie. Using of the phrase, "A black man who has strayed from the liberal plantation," might not be evidence you are a racist. But in using that phrase as part of your argument you have insulted the intelligence of the overwhelming majority of Blacks in America, and as well insulted every Democrat. Way to go, sport!

Now Bernie, you might have a hard time getting the truth of the matter here, but you are despicable. You are despicable for the things you think, things you say, and the things you encourage others to do. Sickening.

And oh. Now can I say that no liberal has ever cynically called someone a racist with out really believing the target was a racist? Of course I can't. Shit. I'll go so far to say I am sure it happens. But when it does, I'm pretty damn sure that's the exception. It's the outlier. I'd argue that for the overwhelming most of the time, the liberal using that word actually believes the target is a racist. For example I can say with a very high degree of confidence, that when liberals accuse Glenn Beck or Hannity, or Rush Limbaugh of being racists, they mean it. Because all those guys are way the hell past the line when it comes to that stuff. Millions and millions of people really believe those guys all are racists, on account of the things they believe, and say, and encourage others to do.

See how that works?

(Oy vey!)

Ok. At least I have moved on from Bachmann.

Edit to Add:

Amos and Andy, my black ass! I just was watching the clip of Jon Stewart taking on the matter of the cynical attacks Fox has been making for the past few days, and in the middle of that was the original mocking of Cain bit. Shit. The accent was more Foghorn Leghorn, than anything else. And in re watching the set up, the actual speech Cain gives, I have to say and say again. If he is not himself trying to do the Minstrel show thing. If that is not a deliberate thing he's doing there, he ought to get himself a good drama and voice coach, regardless of his political ambitions. At best he comes across like some jack leg snake oil salesmen. But the way he plays to the audience? Very bad shit, that.

I'm Bored With Politics, 'Cause the Rapture is Happening on Saturday.

One of the two ideas in that sentence is basically true. I'm sorta bored with politics for the instant moment. So let's talk rapture.

Firstly, I commend those opportunistic souls who have already launched schemes to make some money off this silly shit. It's too late for me, but anyone who wants to sign over material assets, cash, securities, bonds and any other thing of value with free and clear title to me, drop me a message. Oh. And that reminds me that I should check to see if a holographic will sent via the Internet is valid in most US courts. It's been years and years since I took Estate Planning.

Beyond that? It's not so much that I want to, that I take great pleasure in mocking those of faith, but like I told my niece on facebook yesterday. By my count, this is likely my third, end of the world. The first that I recall at least was 1974. I marked the occasion by having my first cigarette. I was 12 at the time. That was the big risk pre-disaster move for me. Now? Imagine me shrugging my shoulders. Maybe I'll run around the house with scissors.

I'll stop there, but to say I read most of the Left Behind series. Silly-assed shit. Oh. One thing more? Glenn Beck's rally in Jerusalem? If the believers are right and that city is holy to God, that's the day people might want to stay indoors and pray. Then again, God is supposed to be able to strike with precision. Or maybe instead of wrath, God can give Beck a brain, and a conscience. Make that a very guilty one!

So Little Time. So Much Stupid Shit. Strike That. Reverse It.

Apologies to Willy Wonka (or the author of the story, actually.)

Ok. So there's this feud, apparently, between Glenn Beck and Huckabee?

Ok. These barking idiot anti-nanny staters come in different flavors, and I guess Beck is further out on the fringe than some others (in all ways, likely.) But why NOW be freaking about Huckabee's defense of Michelle Obama's mission to reduce childhood obesity? Is there some other agenda here? Is Beck undercutting Huckabee, as he might run for the nomination (against Romney?) And if both Romney and Huck are in the race, that's two out of the pack who are more serious contenders, than the rest of those bastids. So is Beck doing some Brother Mormon boostering? Or, to employ the military metaphor, is Beck softening up the beach for Romney?

Sometimes Occam's Razor's best, easiest answer is not really that obvious. Here you have two sorta equally good agendas. And as I like to say, oftentimes it's not an either/or choice. Sometimes it's both.

Got To Love Right Wing Cannibalism.

So There Will Be Less Glenn Beck on Fox (not) News Channel.

That's progress, but I would like to see less, as in none at all, Fox (not) News at all. I have said it before, but not here. If I have a chance to meet P. Obama, after the introductions, I will say to him, "I am not speaking to the POTUS when I say the following, but the leader of the Democratic Party: Something must be done about Fox."

And to explain here, I am not talking unconstitutional First Amendment shit. I am talking extreme but legal political push back. We need to counter them at least, if we can't destroy them. And destruction is fine by me. I would love to see all those overpaid, hack, on air talents (*cough*) I mean partisan, lying assed weasels off the air, and the managers gone. But I would like to see the techs and crew to keep their gigs. So I am fine with a change in management from the top level of the channel, perhaps a buy out by some players who will better represent the changing demographics of the Nation, away from outlaw/redneck/wing nut tastes to brown "new" Americans. Something like a joint venture between some Indian entertainment corps and a Latin American media concern. Instead of that awful, Nation-murdering, brain killing, bullshit fake news, we'd have Bollywood musicals and Mexican Masked Wrestler movies. And more novellas. Ya. That would be a move in the right direction.

Revolutionaries 1, Mubarak 0. The Soccer Match is Over.

But a new chapter in Egyptian society and government begins.

And I can only hope they end up with a more responsible, less corrupt, and more (conventionally, in western enlightenment philosophical terms) free and freedom loving society. But I am seriously anti any thing that smacks of violating Jefferson's Wall of Separation, no matter the religion being in any way exalted or supported. That's the way I roll.

Moving on, kids. What's the difference between a wing nut and a Dem where mentally ill people are concerned?

A Dem finds someone acting or talking crazy, and we want to get them some proper medical treatment.

A wing nut finds someone acting, talking crazy, and they want to give them a radio and or TV show, and or put them in front of congress to testify, or vote them into congress.

Ok. There are two (maybe three) stories driving that bit.

One, I watched that Don Imus thinks Glenn Beck is scary, but loves him, video.

Two, I read the story about Paul the Elder's star witness for a hearing being some insane, Lincoln hating neo secesh trash racist.

And for a third reason, everyone (mostly) at CPAC who is a self described conservative.

Notes: I know Imus is not considered a true wing nut, but he sorta swings that way.

And the source for the video I saw is actually mediaite. And I despise that virtual Yellow Journalism blog, and do not want to endorse it (even if I look at it daily. Go to keep my eye on them bastids!)
