Quickies.

On many levels, last week wore me out. Less so on account of the news from around the points of the compass. But it was something of a bizarre week. Any week where wing nuts still roam the earth has that potential, but I am going to try hard not go off on a they fucking suck tangent. Been there, done that. Don't have any new material as yet.

Let's get to it.

Rick Perry. Used to be a Democrat. Still has (during his term as Gov.) the random rational thought. He had to walk back one of his actions, taking back his making of that anti cervical cancer vaccine mandatory (unless parents choose to opt out.) That's not too long after having to flip flop on first saying if them New Yorkers wanna have gay marriage that up to them, to change that to endorsing a bigoted Fed anti gay marriage constitutional amendment.

The man is clearly morally unfit for office. And I don't wanna rank on him for his grades. Mine were all over the chart. But at least I earned As and Bs too. And I get to say I was a mediocre student from a tier one school.

Anyway.

Why is Michele Bachmann still in the race? She's an accomplished liar, with no real achievement as a politician, she's likely medically unfit, she's a hard core anti gay bigot, and lies about that, and she's a soft core racist. And the reason she looks crazy in pictures is yes. She's crazy. I have know that for years. But this is what the GOP is nowadays. It's a refuge for extremist nut jobs.

Indiana disaster. I used to do that shit for a living (IATSE Local 919, Charter Member.) And when I saw the vid of that thing falling down, my first-make that second thought was, what the fuck with that roof? Who's fucking brilliant idea was it to put a roof on an outdoor stage in tornado country? A roof resembles and as the vid shows, behaves like a wing in a fast wind. Fucker's going to want to fly! Some one's head should roll over that. Oh. And for not postponing the show until the weather alert was past.

P. Obama on the road. I mean I get sorta why he's out there. But I think he ought to be meeting with folk trying to come up with ways to create more jobs, than talking to folk about it.

Granted, I want to see some sort of encouragement with force of state to get those bastid corps to stop sitting on their money and instead use it to expand and hire.

That's what I would like to see.

I'll stop there for now.

Some Shit That is Annoying Me.

Firstly, this new found love for the idea of sexism by some on the right. I find it well annoying that some of those people jump to call sexist any criticism of, as I am now enjoying to call them, the Boobsey Twins (Palin and Bachmann.) I stand with Bill Maher in saying we don't dislike them because they have boobs. We dislike them because THEY ARE boobs.

That bleeds to a related matter I call "The Cult of Right Wing Victim hood." That is one of the most annoying things I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. And I have tasted Miracle Whip! Anyway . . . some people on the right have very thin skins. They don't seem to understand that no one has to like them, particularly when they are being mean and trying to kill Social Security and Medicare, and all that good shit. This is not really a political point. It's basic human nature. It's basic sand box, playground human nature. Take away, or merely threaten to take away my lolipop, my bag of cheese doodles, or my favorite yo-yo and I am going to call you a poopy-head.

Back to a clearer political point. If a politician is a member of a party that worships the ideas of smaller government and less taxes, I have no reason at all to trust anything they say about there being a need to make government smaller, or the logic for not raising taxes. I know their biases to start. And that means I know not to trust them (particularly when they ignore CBO reports and data that proves they are wrong on their analysis and arguments.) As the brilliant American philosopher, Judge Judy says, "Don't pee on my leg, and tell me it's raining."

The fact that NewsCorp has not completely crumbled yet, has me only somewhat annoyed. I am happy to see it in distress. I am amused to see and or hear the defenses of that criminal corporation . . . by folk on it's payroll. But I am losing patience here. I want that shit done, fast! Is it too much to hope for a Criminal RICO action, in addition to Corrupt Foreign Practices? I just love the look and sound of the following: Rupert Murdoch and Newscorp Indicted for Racketeering. Imagine the howling, as they drag Bill O'Reilly away from his desk as the US Marshall's seize the studio. Priceless! (And yes, you can get RICO with bribery. And we already know of NewsCorp doing that in the UK. I think we have to have evidence of that happening here too, for RICO to kick in.)

I'm running out of steam here for now, so I will just say I am annoyed by the persistence of Michele Bachmann. I mean really. It seems none of the rest of the Seven Dwarfs can get any ink/digital/vid coverage these days. (I heard a rumor Herman Cain is about to drop a single feat. Vanilla Ice, just to get mention on the TMZ page!) It's like she's this News Cycle Vampire, sucking all the limelight. But I know better than to blame her for that. I know the truth. And that is it's Summer. It's traditionally the Horse Latitudes for news, and she's the shiny thing of the moment. And already she's morphing into a metaphorical pinata. In other words, my nefarious friends in the liberal media set her up, just to knock her down. She can't handle pressure (few of the current batch of GOP pols can, it seems. Clay feet and eggshell craniums seem to be in abundance on that side of the aisle.) And when the push comes to shove, she will crack like a raw egg. Make that instead like Humpty Dumpty. My guess, at least.

Michelle Bachmann Sits on a Wall. Before Long She'll Have a Great Fall.

That's my prediction. Now that Weinergate is a brush fire that's burned out. Now that Mrs. Palin's "Americana" Promoting Bus is back in the shed, the people who make a living telling us what is not news is news, have to fill columns and air time. So we are living in the summer of Bachmann. Ho-Ray! Shiny Thing!!!

Let me do a quick dance around the GOP Field. Romney's mostly boring. Huntsman's watch the paint dry, boring. Santorum will say stupid shit, time to time, but still, we know his lame-o act so well, it's boring. Ron Paul? We've seen that movie before. It's twice as boring now as it was last time. Herman Cain is only remotely interesting when he says racist shit, or otherwise acts like a minstrel in a bad Tambo and Bones skit. Otherwise, boring. (At least "Ambassador" Alan Keyes was mad crazy insane. He would bug out every now and then. And that makes for Must See TV.) But beyond that, he's the boring token black. And then there's Newt. Newt is so accidentally funny. But at the rate he's going he might not last the summer. Shit. He might not last the week.

So we got Bachmann.

Quoting from Huffpo:

According to Taibbi, "Bachmann is" the following:

"a religious zealot whose brain is a raging electrical storm of divine visions and paranoid delusions"
"one of the scariest sights in the entire American cultural tableau"
"the T2 skeleton posing for a passport photo"
"grandiose crazy, late-stage Kim Jong-Il crazy"
"frenetically pacing the hallways of a vast sand castle she's built [inside her own mind], unable to meaningfully communicate with the human beings on the other side of the moat, who are all presumed to be enemies."

Taibbi on Bachman.

How's that for Must See TV? But I am pretty sure she's going to blunder. She has this solid history of saying incredibly insane things, on account of the fact she really, truly believes in insane shit. And I don't just mean "The Rapture," insane stupid shit. She believes all that crazy conservative christian shit. But she also believes in an alternative reality where all that dogma is reality.

So she is going to fuck it up and fuck it up famously. If we are lucky, in the next debate. It's not even July yet, and I am well bored. I need to see someone fall off the wall. Spectacularly.

PS: Got to say this is my favorite line of the month: "Late-stage Kim Jong-Il crazy."
