A Very Liberal Idea, from a Tyrant.

More, from "Rome."

Cicero goes battty at Julius Caesar's decision to elevate a Plebe to the Senate.

Caesar's reply to Cicero's fit?

"I want the Senate to be made up of the best men in Italy, not just the oldest richest men in Rome."

Granted, Caesar had a few other reasons for that decision.

He was trying to appeal to that lower body of the Roman Populi, the Plebes, in the first place; and he seemed to enjoy few things more than pissing off those very same rich and old Romans already in the Senate.

No wonder they killed him!
