I am not a marxist, nor even a declared socialist. But I am an anticapitalist, because that shit sucks. I don't believe it can be eliminated merely by government, I sincerely believe that technology has to get to a point where capitalism no longer is a viable part of human society.
That being said. I am still frustrated with a friend. Who, despite my telling her I have worked on litigation involving the retail food supermarkets' supply chain, not only at POS but distributors and even specifically all aspects of the meat industry, poultry specifically. So I have spent about 4 maybe more than 5 years of my life reading those people's internal corporate documents. She still refuses to accept that food deserts are a real thing.
No matter how many times I said, based on my experience in reading internal corporate communications and other documents, I know for a fact how much a handful sort of monopolistic corporate entities control the distribution system. In other words, the market? Hell, never mind the fact that a few monster-sized supermarket holding companies own the majority of well-known regional and national bigger-name chains.
She just would not accept the plain fact. If you live in the wrong neighborhood (without a car?) You are fucked. Meaning your choices are limited, and your power as a consumer is non-existent.
But that is how capitalism works guys!
