If You Love Me, Don’t MESSAGE BOARD Me!

Hell, if all you want is to keep me from believing you are breaking my balls, deliberately, don’t message board me.

Now to be plain and honest about it, I am far from perfect, but in fairness that is because I am perfectly human. Sometimes I wish I were not that emotionally expansive (euphamism there.) I do not think I am all that excessively emotional. I actually think I am sorta balanced, in that most things are not going to bug me out, but there are things that do.

But what I need out of life is this. I want to be able to express myself. And I want to be able to say:

"That person sucks,"

or

"That person is wicked,"

or

"That person is garbage,"

and beyond all else I want the simple, cost-free low to no effort response of Not Being Contradicted.

Is that too much to ask from the world and the people in it? I am not asking for validation or agreement. I can live quite well without agreement. All I need is to be able to express my feelings freely, particularly when it is damned obvious that what I am doing is expressing my feelings. Simply human, it is to do that. Just as simply, it should be easy to say:

"Un hunh."

"Sorry 'bout that,"

or even the truly noncommittal,

"Dude, that sucks!"

Ok. I do admit that expecting that from the world at large might be expecting too much, as the world does not care for me any bit more than the billions of other puny earthlings inhabiting it's surface.

But I say with more specificity, is that too much to ask from a friend; to just listen and accept, and NOT contradict? But if you contradict me; if you are going to treat the thing as a matter that is up for debate? IF you are going to do like those people do on message boards, and argue with me for not good reason at all (if not deliberately to get me all fired up?) That would be message boarding me.

Message boarding sucks. Even on a message board, treating people that way sucks. It is about as far from being a friend one can be, without deliberately hurling insults with the goal of causing emotional distress.

So please, do not message board me, unless you want me to believe you are breaking my balls, deliberately.

Ok?

I Can Finally Prove it (almost.) The Reason I HATE Text Based Communication is Because I AM NORMAL! (*sheesh*)

Ok. That is another of my unclear starts. Yesterday, while waiting on line at the DMV for vehicle inspection, I heard a report on NPR about Autism. To set this up better, I should say that among the specific things associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders are inabilities and deficiencies with one-on-one, real world communication. Said simply, autistics often if not usually don't get all those subtle, emotional cues, like eye contact, and facial expressions, and tone of voice. (Personally I get lost without all that stuff, quite easily.)

So, in this one bit in the multi-part report, the one man said something about Autism and the internet that triggered the thought expressed in the subject line here. He said that the internet levels the playing field for autistics. All the subtly of eye, and face, and tone of voice and emotional cues are GONE! They do not exist.

That is hell for me. But it is heaven for an autistic person.

Now earlier today, I looked for a direct link to the NPR story, and could not find that specific bit on their website. But I found the following, elsewhere:

"Tech Fields A Haven For Some

Systems-Oriented Skills Of High-Functioning Autistics, Asperger's, Can Be A Good Fit

(WebMD) The Internet can be a social paradise for high-functioning autistic people and people with Asperger's syndrome. Here, the nonverbal niceties of social interaction that they find so perplexing don't apply. People who might strike others as gauche in person often fit in perfectly well on Internet message boards."

"It's been said that people with autism invented the Internet"

So yes (well not literally) it does seem that I am too normal to deal with all that text based shit.

Who knew?

I did.

I have been saying that for years.

Sickening! This is Just the Begining. It Will Continue for the Next Eight Months (assuming Sen. Obama is the Dem Nominee) or Maybe . . .

the next four to eight years.

And I am talking about the Republican Hate Machine and it's by now obvious racist attack on Sen. Obama.

I could go long here, but I will instead take a cue from that somewhat famous quote from Michelle Obama. She might have spoken too soon (even if I get why she said it) about how it is now a good time for being proud to be an American (based on how well received her husband's candidacy was received.)

But now that the genuine racists of the GOP, and/or those who are at least if not at most so sickening in their partisan bigotry that they are dead-set on attacking Sen. Obama on account of his race with racist-tinged attacks, have come out of the closet, I am prepared to be sick for a long, long time.

Maybe most of America is actually ready for the possible reality of a black president.

But many are not. And many are disgusting enough and so lacking in decency that even if they might not act as racist in their day to day life, they are willing to play that shit, if it advances their partisan political bigotry. Just my opinion, I don't see much of a difference between someone who is a racist 24/7 and one who only turns on that shit when it convienent for their partisan political goals to start spewing that shit. Either way, racist shit is being spewed.

So yes I am sick. And yes, I am not all that proud to be an American right now.

Those people are that sickening, and I know it is not going to go away.

Come On People! You KNOW THIS Already. Ok. One Last Time . . .

when you make generalized statements,
about most if not all of a group of people,
who are a different race than yours,
and as long as that statement is critical, and
referring to them as a race,

you assume the risk of being called a RACIST!

You likely will deserve it too, as that is really what the meaning of racist is. It is not merely criticizing a member of a different race, but the thing requires some general disparagement of the race, at least, or disparaging remark generally leveled at the race.

For example saying all or most blacks (fill in the blank with what ever criticism your hateful little mind embraces).

Ya. That is the classic racist expression of a classic racist thought.

Oh, and fervently believing it doesn't help you at all. Rather it means you are that much more likely a stone racist, if you really really believe in your disparaging racist thoughts.

Ok?

I hope I NEVER have to type this out again.

Oh, and before I go -- Happy Easter/Passover/Equinox/nothing at all if that is your bag.

Spring is unofficially here. So please take this opportunity in the season of rebirth to turn over a new leaf, particularly if you have a history of holding generalized racist thoughts.

Please?

Obama Stuck With Lemons; Makes a Sweet Pitcher of Lemonade . . .

I think so, that his speech did a lot to not only stem the damage from the "Swift Boating" by proxy over manufactured scandal over outrageous remarks, well cherry picked for maximum damage, by his former "Streetcorner Preacher," The Rev. Wright, but was inspiring.

I can only hope his detractors will study well the speech, and see the message that is there. Racism and race-featuring problems in America are not merely a matter of "Them People's" problem, or "We People's" problem. It is All America's problem.

I am not brain-dead though. I know there will be some number of stubborn partisan hypocrites who would rather continue to play the game of partisan race baiting and make themselves part of the continuing problem, instead of part of a coming solution.

Sad, that is.

On Strike, Once Again

Seems to come up like every three or so months.

No, I do not mean like a WORK strike; this is a personal matter.

Every three or so months for the past two (more?) years, it has become necessary for me to have to go on strike with a particular person. Strike, meaning -- all bets, deals, promises (well most at least, I do try to maintain core, discrete loyalty) are off. I am free to do what the hell ever I want.

Well not exactly.

Reason I go out on strike is becuase I NEVER get to do what I exactly want. If too many weeks or months go by with out me getting something resembling respect, if no actual human consideration, is given, I go on strike. I consider my dilema, when I have gone too long with out human consideration as . . . holding the bag.

So what I do is if I have gone way too long being left holding the bag, is I metaphorically Drop the Friggin Bag.

That is as much as I have to say right about now.

And, to be Fair (and I am fair)

Sen. Obama's pastor? Seems like a flake to me. The more I hear (read) about him, the more I think he is what happens when a streecorner preacher gets too many followers.

But (and it is a very big but) he does not scare me. He seems to be dangerous only to his own self.

I can tell the difference between shit-talk (trivial nonsense) and advocating genocide (crimes against humanity.)

Can you?

Let's Give Armageddon a Chance, Part Deux. Ya. It Actually Can and Does Get Worse.

The following, re another genocidal christian pastor, associated with McCain:

Senator John McCain hailed as a spiritual adviser an Ohio megachurch pastor who has called upon Christians to wage a “war” against the “false religion” of Islam with the aim of destroying it.

{skip}

But if McCain is going to tout Parsley as a “spiritual guide,” it’s certainly worth learning more about where Parsley might “guide” the Republican nominee. Most notably, Parsley doesn’t just hate Islam, he wants to “destroy” it. Here’s what he wrote in one of his books:

The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed, and I believe September 11, 2001, was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore.

From there, the lunacy becomes more predictable. Parsley argues, for example, that “Allah was a demon spirit.” There is no difference, he argues, between violent Islamic extremists and mainstream Muslim believers.

Keep in mind, Parsley is not just some fringe figure. In evangelical circles, he’s something of a powerhouse, and is widely believed to be one of the religious right’s new major players, after Falwell’s death and Robertson’s deterioration. It’s precisely why McCain, desperate for support from a right-wing constituency that has never trusted him, would cozy up to this hateful extremist (or, should I say, another hateful extremist).

I suppose waiting for McCain to denounce Parsley’s anti-Muslim bigotry would take a while, so there’s hardly any point to asking. But it would be worthwhile for campaign reporters, always looking for a new angle or story, to ask the senator why he’d stand alongside a “spiritual guide” who believes the United States has to “destroy” the “false religion” of Islam.

Crusading Evangelicals not only scare me, they fraking scare me, when they are this fraking nuts.

Let's Give Armageddon a Chance.

Between the Pastor Hagee endorsement, and the just floated possibility of Joe Lieberman as Sec. Def. in a McCain admin, I am thinking that if it should ever so happen, that McCain becomes POTUS, I might as well rack up much more debt, at even worse interest rates, as WW III can't be far away.

First, let us consider Pastor Hagee.

Shit. I started typing a bunch there and deleted it.

This crank pot says he is a defender of Israel, despite the fact he believes in Evangelical-Flavored End Times Prophesy, which says that Israel is slated to be destroyed . . . . as has been prophesized. But wait. It gets worse. He is on record of saying he wants the USA to launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran, just in case they really mean to attack Israel . . . and of course a pre-emptive strike against Iran will unify all of the Arab States to throw everything they got at Israel, destroying Israel. (See how messed up this stuff is?)

That is bad enough, and I could go longer with these Biblically Based Foreign Policy Advocates, I will stop there and move on to Joe Lieberman. Now yes I did vote for him that one time, but that was before I knew he was freaking nutz. But the idea of him being Sec Def.?

McCain/Liebeman. Twice the senility, twice the fun. Twice the chances of seeing if not you own ass blown away in the next 3 years, large tracts of the planet will be transfromed from living desert, to radioactive wasteland. I am no expert on Biblical Prophesy, but for the fact I do not belive in one word of it. I do not believe in magic. However, I believe in science and technology and I believe the experts are right in saying that Israel likely has at least 100 good nukes. Oh and I did some reading on their latest Missle System: the Jericho II. Them puppies will hit the intended targets, I bet. They have American designed guidance systems.

So if you wanted to make that pilgrimage to the holy land, better get there soon.

And hey. Why is that one piece of dirt the holy land. I thought God was everywhere?
