Why Colin Powell Can Not Be Chosen as a GOP Candidate for Prez. or VP in the Near Future. He Now Speaks the Truth!

Ok, more honestly, he is at least making sense now. Funny how getting away from the Bush Administration can cause formerly-smart seeming people who had been seemingly-lobotomized while involved in the bullshit-generating Partisan Plastic Turkey Man's gang, to "Snap Out of It," and remember that,"Gee whizz I am smart after all. I can think for myself. Yea!" But that is another story.

Oh, and as an alternative title, I could have said something like:

Trust the (Ex)General, and (Ex) Sec'y State, now that he is speaking for his own self (instead of for Plastic Turkey Man.)

Anyway, here is the pay-off:

"What is the greatest threat facing us now? People will say it's terrorism. But are there any terrorists in the world who can change the American way of life or our political system? No. Can they knock down a building? Yes. Can they kill somebody? Yes. But can they change us? No. Only we can change ourselves. So what is the great threat we are facing?

I would approach this differently, in almost Marshall-like terms. What are the great opportunities out there—ones that we can take advantage of? It should not be just about creating alliances to deal with a guy in a cave in Pakistan. It should be about how do we create institutions that keep the world moving down a path of wealth creation, of increasing respect for human rights, creating democratic institutions, and increasing the efficiency and power of market economies? This is perhaps the most effective way to go after terrorists."

Ok, that is not exactly saying exactly what I have been saying since I started this blog (well before that really.) But please note the important line there. I colored the line orange. "Only we can change ourselves." So I ask you, dear reader, do you agree that it is we (as a people/nation) who can do the most harm to ourselves? If so, please be equally as vigilant against them who are our fellow citizens who seek to change the nature of our society and our government away from a liberty-loving, Constitution-based federal republic, where no one is considered above the law, and no one gets a free hand, or otherwise is beyond question.

On second thought, be MORE on the lookout for that sort of domestic enemy. I mean, get real here. Your chances of getting within 100 miles of a foreign terrorist (if you are here in the USA) are millions to one, against it ever happening, leave alone thwarting one.
